Can anybody advise me on the cost of changing the tax from a van to a converted camper and how to do it please?

Thats a link from the vrt website you can ask and recieve questions there too,
Basically after you convert the van to a camper you arrange a meeting at your local vrt centre (normally your nct centre) they will inspect and approve if its ok and then give you a bill for the relevant vrt due then your tax per year is €95.

I'm just going through the same process myself. You'll need a bed, a table and a cooker among other things and you'll get stung for 13.5 per cent VRT on the value of your vehicle in the first year. After that it's just 95 a year. Here's the best write-up I've found about it online..
