    Hey all,

Last time I signed (3 weeks ago in Galway City) there was a sign saying that for our next signing we would all be receiving a letter informing us how the new signing system works.

I haven't received any letter yet! Hass any of ye received it?

    Thanks

I didn't see or get told anything like that and I'm in Dublin City. I signed on just last week.
The only thing I can even think of would be that a few months ago in my local, they switched from writing your name with a pen to using a little electronic type thing.
But I was pretty sure that was all over the country.

This is only being done now in Galway! I got the letter yesterday in the post so the signing seems to have changed.. Is it slower or quicker than the queueing for the old way of signing?

Exact same thing. You queue up, instead of them finding your sign on card, they just have a little device there. You agree to the same things as usual, you're not lying, not working, etc (basically the usual stuff). Then you sign your name and that's that.

If you can sign your name the exact same way every time, then this speeds up the process.....
otherwise you end up signing your name several times as the SW person informs you that "you originally signed with more of a loop in the second N, can you try again....."

Never got anything like that. And my writing is horrible.

Did this a couple of weeks ago in Cork. First time, you have to bring photo ID. Didn't seem to be too much bother, but interesting to note the comment about signing on that pad which is slippy at the best of times.

In any case, no-one's signature is exactly the same every time you sign anything, anyway. What a load of bollix....

So this is like the electronic signing pad that couriers/post/other delivery services uses? Right, so goes straight into the computer system instead of them needing to access physical paperwork. Must save space at least, though presumably what files there are must be being kept for the time being.

Hadn't come across the exact duplicate handwriting thing before but then again every time I've had to sign one of those electronic signing pads it's been a ne off and the signature has only been a nominal aspect rather than them actually using it to confirm identity. Just something to show that a process has been completed.

Do wonder how strict they are going to be on the exact duplication aspect since I'm not sure how exact mine remains from signature to signature. Or anybody else for that matter unless it is actually a practised signature as in autographs or letter bottoms. Which may have faded out of practise long since anyway.

If you miss a signing on day and your payment is suspended, do you get it back the following week or do you miss out on a week?

By the way, I've never been asked about my signature or anything like it and my writing is a joke. I've used the electronic thing about 5 times at least and it's all be fine. Never asked for photo ID either.

Go down and explain that you missed it; you'll get it back the next week (or the week after). You never get a payment taken from you if you explain and don't leave it more than a week or so.
