Free video editing for Windows?

Hi all - I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before. Basically, for work, I need a quick option for some easy video editing with Windows (not Vista). It has to be free, as we have a Mac and FCP coming to us, just not in time for what I need to do.

I need to edit a series of brief interviews. Nothing fancy, but must be able to import video and audio from (very basic) device; add effects like fade to black; add subtitles; allow colour correction; and cut and move video and audio easily enough within the clip; export as a file as opposed to directly to YouTube.

I have read reviews of VideoPad which seem good, but it has been so long since I've used anything but Final Cut that I am a tad confused by all the options. Any recommendations very welcome!
