Your coming to NY, stay away from the Irish bars, go to different places!

    What last poster says.

The Times Square area charge top dollar for food and drink. 8th avenue is a bit of a ****hole to be honest so wouldnt hang around there.

Try Jimmy's Corner on 44th between 6th and 7th Avenue. You wont pay more than $4 for a beer. I was in there this day last week and go every time I'm over. Old school dive bar with hundreds of boxing pictures as Jimmy Glenn the owner was a famous old trainer.

Also try Rudy's on 9th Avenue between 44th and 45th st. Another dive bar with an even cheaper range of beers plus free hot dogs! This place will require ID.

Stick to local bars where you will meet all sorts of characters.

    Enjoy:)

"The Irish Pub" - on 7th Ave W 54th is owned by a Mayo family and it just up the street from Times Square - watched the Ireland V Walves Rugby game there last year - good aul spot.

Paddy Reilly's on 2nd Avenue is also a good spot.

walk around the place. These are within walking distance if you're not scared to walk a few blocks.

    Rattle N Hum
    The Pony Bar
    The Ginger Man

These are bars with huge selections of great beers. If you just want Bud or Coors, I wouldn't go to these places.

My favorite bar is the Blind Tiger down in the Village.

The Irish Pub was a great spot until they did it up 2 years ago. Now its your average sports bar.

This isn't around Times Square but it isn't a million miles away either
. On 33rd between 5th and 6th (right behind the Empire State) there is a place called Foleys. Great bar, but completely different than anything you've seen before. Sports memorabilia everywhere. Check it out

Foleys is a million miles better than most places around Times Square.

There are 3 other Irish bars on 33rd if Foleys isn't your kind of place.

If you want to go a bit off beat, try PD O'Hurleys on West 72nd street.

I've been to NY a lot and always stop by there, very local and really nice food.

Jack Dempseys (5th and 31st or maybe 32nd street) does a grand bit of grub.
