I want a pair of floorstanding speakers and receiver that I can plug my Xbox, PC and tv into. I like the idea of the USB connection that bypasses the soundcard to give the best reproduction.

What is the best combination for under €1000 or should I get a separate preamp and amp and speakers?

    Hi Quarryman.

    Sorry for the late reply.

We have had the busiest weekend of the year so far due to this whole switchover thing.

I assume that you are simply looking at floorstanding speakers and an amplifier instead of surround speakers and home cinema surround receiver ?

If this is the case, then the Cambridge 651A amplifier with a pair of Monitor Audio BX5 speakers would be the way to go.

This 651A has the USB input and is a great sounding amplifier and works brilliantly with these speakers.

This would come in slightly over budget at 1050 Euro including delivery.

Let me know what you think.
