New Build, input needed :)

Hi folks,

I am hoping to put together a decent enough PC in the near future, and would like your input. I will have a core i7 3770k, intel mobo Z77, and a 520 series 180gb ssd (getting at a heavily subsidised rate). Also plan on using something like an Aerocool Strike X case. I have £200 in Amazon vouchers and I plan to use those for components. I know some would call it an overkill, but I would like 16 GB ram ...


1. What is your budget? €600-800

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming/Photo and Video editing/ web design/ programming (Gaming - BF3/Skyrim/Witcher 2)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Case, i7 3770k, Intel DZ77GA-70K S1155, Intel 180GB 520 Series

5. Do you need a monitor? No


5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920x1080 - possibly upgrade to nvidia surround/amd eyefinity setup

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Wireless Card/Card Reader - Yes

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

9. When are you purchasing? In the next month or so

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Westmeath

Thanks a mill I was speaking with a friend recently and he was telling me his rig had 32 GB ram, and he sometimes used up to 19GB with all the photo editing and video rendering as well as other stuff.

also i speced it on HWVS as it's easier you can look on amazon for some parts to use the vouchers...

also you'll be getting an overclockable motherboard and CPU so i wouldn't write off overclocking straight away it's become alot easier as easy as changing one value in the bios to get up to something like a 4ghz.. but you'll need an aftermarket cooler if you decide to do
