Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hotpoint Charges for + 8 Year Machines

I have a Hotpoint washer/dryer that has just starting acting up (stuck in heat cycle, so I'm guessing its a temp controller). Its just over 8 years so what ever is the fix will be chargeable

Contacted Hotpoint/Indesit and they say they could have an engineer visit and cost would be €17.xx per month for 12 months, asked if I could just pay what ever is the charge and was told no. Bit odd that its chargeable over 12 months (or was it 24 not sure). On the bases that I was quoted circa €200, I would of course jst prefer to pay a once off

Is this the normal method of arranging an Engineer by Hotpoint for machines thats over 8 years old? Would I be generally better lifting an engineer from the Yellow Pages?

Machine only does 2 washes each week, so not in heavy use

hotpoint are basicly selling you an insurance product ,unlimited repairs including parts etc -not in your interest at €200 euro

be careful with independant engineers as most dont have or cant understand hotpoint diagnostics or fault codes . most will see flashing lights and tell you its beyond repair because they dont know what they are looking at ,but still charge you a call out fee .

a good engineer would probably fix that issue for €80-€90

if you ring an engineer ask them first can they fix hotpoint (wd440?)and do they have access to the fault codes
