Are you planning on paying the person?

Why not look into getting a price off someone that does home boarding? They are bound to give a better rate for such a long time.

Whats the reason for asking someone to do this?

It would cost a good bit home boarding is between 12-15 per day for a small dog :-(

Ok, can't say I like this post at all.

You've got a 4 month old puppy, which you've most likely owned for 8 weeks at the very most, and now you want someone else to take care of them for five months, and you'll visit at the weekends??

The visiting at the weekends, suggests clearly that you don't have to go abroad urgently (which could be perhaps a valid reason)

You will not get anyone to do this for you for free, and it's very naive to think you would. These months are the most important time (and difficult) for a puppy, and you think someone will do this cost free for 5 months? Leaving a 4 month old puppy in kennels for this time, is frankly a disgustingly cruel thing to do (and any decent place won't take them)

If this is your dedication to your dog, you should look into re-homing them permanently, as it doesn't sound like animal ownership is for you.

Well I pay €10 a day for home boarding.

The OP can't seriously expect a complete stranger to mind their dog for free for 5months. If you do find someone you trust make sure to get insurance so at least the medical fees will be covered if anything was to happen.

To make one thing clear, we don’t want to pay for someone to mind our dog. As I hate people making money from dog.:mad:

We got the dog as gift, it turn out the landlord find it out and want us to move out from his property. We are prepare to loss our 1K deposit and tried to find some place can have a dog in Dublin, but the chance is very low. still trying now :P
    Why 5 months?

They are/will be making money from the service they're providing - walking and caring for you dog?! Are you planning on ever taking it to the vet if it gets sick or do you see that as making money from the dog?! You should be looking for the best possible care - not the cheapest. Would the person who gave it to you not mind it - or the breeder they got it from not take it back?

This is an extraordinary post! What on earth does the bolded bit mean? The dog is very young. I suspect it hasn't been to puppy classes. It probably still needs toilet training. You are expecting someone to:
    • Socialise the dog
    • Take it for walks
    • Keep him company
    • Make sure the dog has enough toys and mental stimulation.
    • Take the dog for any necessary vet visits.
    • Give the dog worm and flea treatments
for free, gratis, nix, nada? Have I got this right??? What happens if you have children? You won't pay a childminder, because you don't want the childminder making money from your children??

Good luck with that one. I really do hope you find someone to help you.

You hate people making money from dog? Or you hate the idea of paying money towards proper care of your dog? There is a difference.

You expect someone to look after your dog for free then use an angry face (or two) about people who make money from dogs. Isn't professional, experienced, insured care something you'd want for your dog?

As has been mentioned, this is a very important time in your poor pups development. If you choose the wrong place it could (will) effect your pup for the rest of their life. Good luck with your search. I'd recommend that if the dogs welfare is your top concern to put things other than "willing to do it for free" at the top of your priority list.

OP. I note the dog is a Bichon Frise. Who is going to groom the dog daily and clip her every 6-8 weeks? Can the dog minder be relied upon to do this? Are you expecting this to be done for free too??

The house purchase may or may not be completed in 5 months. What happens when the dog is in heat? Are you planning to spay her??

You need to consider these factors very carefully as well.

    Now for “daRobot”
To keep your mouth shut, we already have people like to take care of her.

You've got a 4 month old puppy, which you've most likely owned for 8 weeks at the very most, and now you want someone else to take care of them for five months, and you'll visit at the weekends??

Yes, we will visit. Can you not read my post!!

The visiting at the weekends, suggests clearly that you don't have to go abroad urgently (which could be perhaps a valid reason)

We are not going abroad, please see my previous post for reason.

Yes, we got It, not one, but 3 people ……. For free, I have a kind of feelling, there is only money in your eyes.

If this is your dedication to your dog, you should look into re-homing them permanently, as it doesn't sound like animal ownership is for you.

We will not re- homeing her, as we love her from the start, I know you may not call this is ”love”, but there are a lots of things that you cannot control in your life.

I hope the 3 free people are reliable. Otherwise, this could end in tears...

Money isn't a consideration when caring for or kennelling my animals. I choose the best & most professional. Clearly, money is a consideration for you, OP. I can tell by the way you keep mentioning it. Not classy at all...

I would suggest that you give the dog to someone that can understand it's needs as you 'o.p' imo should not be in possession of such dog. You clearly have no idea what you are dealing with. For the sake and health of said dog, I would suggest you find it a good home - a permanent good home.

How can you be so self-righteous when you are clearly not suited to having a dog. Did you even do any reading about pups before you 'got the dog as gift'?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,435 ✭✭✭areyawell

I hope the people you gave the dog too are people that you know. If not, no sane person would look after a dog for someone that they do not know. These pups can fetch up to 300 euro online and if its a female even more. I can feel these strangers telling you that they puppy got out and they cannot find it and sell on the dog. Or what else will happen is that the people will get attached to the dog and decide to keep it and tell you to kindly p*SS off.

Also visiting a dog on weekends what the heck? Do you expect people to give up a few hours on the weekend for you to visit your own dog, bring it for walks every day just to suit you. Stop living in a fantasy world.

Its like saying to someone can I park my car in your driveway for six months as I dont have a parking space and could you also make sure the tax and insurance is up to date on it and I'm not paying you for this privilage. God some people are so naive its scary

I do get sick to death of this business i.e a dog was given as a present/gift, and the person/receiver of this gift - dog can not and does not understand how to look after it. I have been to the rescue centre on many occasions and have seen many a dog having to be put to sleep because a person/persons cannot look after it as there are so many in these dog shelters because idiots do not have the brain-power to understand the basics.

A lot of decent people with good homes and a nice big garden rescue some of these dogs like myself with my border collie and give them a new relaxing and nice life but unfortunately there are not enough people to take a rescue dog on-board. The dog is going to suffer as of now because you took on something that you can not handle and in saying this, you will only be damaging the dogs health so find it a new home with a person that can really look after this dog of yours.

I can see christmas being another idiotic scenario again with buying dogs to give children as gifts and not one idea of what they are really doing, shame really but this happens every year. Uneducated people.

O.P, Bring your dog to the dogs trust, at least they will feed it and look after it and also make sure it gets all the jabs it needs for it's health. If you cannot keep him/her or look after this dog do the right thing and do what i stated.

    What a face-palm thread.
OP, you are only just avoiding a ban here because I'm taking it English is not your first language: your tone with other posters leaves a lot to be desired, but for the above reason, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
You may not have liked what other posters had to say, but it does not mean that many people made very valid points. What a ludicrous situation to put a young puppy into, and I simply do not, will not believe that you cannot find rental accommodation that will take dogs. They are out there, you just gotta look for them.
As you seem to have found what you were looking for, and as this thread is, quite frankly, mental, I am now closing it.
