Any one got any idea what these new parking spots with reflective posts and armcore barriers are for?

One is located on the Balla to Claremorris RD, think someelse said there was one around Ballina as well.

Them seen to have appeared over the last weeks and have a power cable run to them as well.

    So any ideas?

We have more electric charging points than electric cars.

I guess we should wait for the widespread adoption of EVs before we provide the infrastructure that will facilitate their widespread adoption.

They're not just in Mayo either, have popped up all over the place! I figured they were spots for the Gardai/speed vans to hang out? - but the EV thing makes sense too never thought of that.

That would have to be the case to give them a chance of taking off.

There's another one halfway between the racecourse and the Keel bridge outside Ballinrobe, it's along a straight stretch where people often put the foot down.

The claremorris to balla rd is not a designated speed camera zone.

I'm fairly sure speed camera vans don't need an external power source.

On that tangent, my only problem with speed camera vans is the idiots who are already driving 20-30km/h below the speed limit and then slam on the brakes when they see a van in the distance. When I'm running the country, the vans will detect and fine those idiots, because they clearly hadn't a clue what speed they were doing in the first place.
