Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Glad McCarthy got mom. He has been good and it should mean he will nail down that spot.

I thought Walters deserved man of the match. McCarthy has been pretty decent though too.

1-4 takes the sting out of that 1-6 defeat and even better if the Germans score more against Sweden .

Mcgeady has been alright tonite. Lay off lads.

    Keane
    Andrews
    Oshea
    Cox

    All far worse.
I agree. I try to get behind all the players. I do just have a dislike for mageady that I cant get over. So much promise but consistently disappoints.

On the flip side very happy with wilson and coleman

No that's 4 now for him. Plus he scored the Faroes' goal as well.

Good win but I hope this won't cover up the deficiencies that this team has.

He didn't celebrate any of them though - he never does against his childhood idols.

Delighted with the result, some of the younger players showed just why they deserve to be in the team!

Have to single out Wilson, Coleman, McCarthy and Walters for quality performances tonight.

So how many has the second coming of Pele aka Shane Long scored so far?

Gone back to Italy instead of the usual press conference in Dublin tomorrow.
That was the pre match story anyway. Who knows if there is anything in that?

Stadium MC has a sense of humour anyway :P

Might be more to do with the fact they are broke and cant afford to sack him.

We have time to get qualification right with no games until March next year. A lot of problem areas to be fixed but a few friendlies coming up to sort it out.
    Well done tonight Ireland.

    Why?

    Got us to the Euros.

Lost to two Euro finalists, Croatia and a Germany that is winning 3-0
    Is that a sackable offense?

WITH NOONE BESIDE YOU YOURE GOIN NO WHERE!! TRAGEDY!!

    Rather apt.

great performance in 2nd half, better attitude by the players and they played some decent passing football too.

    "Tragedy" rings around the stadium,

Is that what they're used to with their home games?

Still though, deserves to be getting on earlier.

I can accept Keane (goals) and Walters (effectiveness) but Long could have comfortably been given more minutes here.

Not in the least ...the Irish defense is as weak as it ever was ,even against a weaker side like the Faroes .

So Trap's lost the dressing room, yeah?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Well it's a good win and some good displays.

Odd brain fart from trap (cox who done nothing)

But one thing I want to point out is can we stop with all the mcgeady hate. I thought he was alright tonight, but every time he loses it we are on him like wolves.

Trap will remain in his job, which is fair looking at the table. March will decide his faith.

Hopefully now Trap can go out after a decent win, he's done well for us but taken us as far as he can.

5 months for the FAI to make a decision.

They better have a reasonable Plan B if they sack him though.

I don't want another World Class manager promised and then having maybe Gary Kelly presented as the new gaffer.

Well done to Marco Tardelli for bringing the lads together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,992 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

McCarthy MoM is clearly based on his second half display only, he was awful in the first half.

    I think Walters deserved it.

I really hope that guy from the thread fri night didn't go offering 7/4 on Ireland to anyone :P

Good win. Expected no less. The Faroes are a determined side yes but severely lacking in quality. Andrews was dreadful really, O'Shea was shaky under high balls and all in all we found it more tricky than we should dealing with set pieces. Walters mixed the good with the very poor. Great trier but some of his passing/decision making was woeful.

However, now I'm just gonna focus on being positive :) (we've enough to offer a negative view :P). We've got 6 from 9. Before the three games that's exactly what we aimed for. Sweden look to be very poor too so it's definitely not a stretch we can challenge for second. The right team was picked and hopefully that continues. Wilson was great tonight.

    Onwards and upwards hey

It's not bad form its just nonsense.

I'm not happy with the way the FAI are running our national team (and league) and I am not happy with the way Trap is managing them.

It's this attitude of ''ah shur we always have to get behind our country'' attitude that is nonsense.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭population

So Trap's lost the dressing room, yeah?

They have just beaten The Faroe Islands. I will repeat that, 'The Faroe Islands'. This in no way proves harmony in the camp or that Trap has inspired them. Premier league players should be beating part timers without any fuss on every single occasion in which they encounter them no matter who is in charge. A test of a manager is when a team meets another team of equal or greater ability. Not The Faroe Islands

Trap should say "Up Yours" in Italian.
