Hi I am being driven mad with the internet disconnecting continuously from lptop at home. Details

    IBM tinkpad T41
    windows XP SP3
Intel ProR/wireless lan 2100B mini PCI adapter
driver appears to be up to date
    eircom broadband
    netopia router

wireless comes on automatically when I start the laptop, then disconnects and mostly it reconnects itself, this continues all the time. At some stages it stall ons 'aquiring ip address'. it is WPA2-PSK protected and I have the correct key/password entered.
It does connect when using the ethernet cable.

Any elp would be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe the fact that it keeps aquiring an ip address leads me to believe that it is a DHCP and or a signal issue. How far away are you away from the WAP?

Have you tried changing wireless channel? Are there other wifi networks nearby?

I changed channel but it didn't help. It was happening even when I was alongside the router.
What I have done now is set the ip address manually instead of automatically detect so far it seems to be working, is it o to leave it like that?
