Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a lot of time for Emmett Malone. Far better than those others mentioned.

In all seriousness, I like Miguel Delaney and Richie Sadlier.

Miguel Delaney's Football Pantheon is the most impressive thing I've seen done by an Irish Football Journalist so I'd vote for him.

The 100 Greatest Moments of All Time was a really entertaining read (worth investing the time to watch read/watch each moment) and an education for all but the most knowledgeable of football fans. I would say it's a must-watch for anyone who wanted to understand the history and development of the game.

I remember laughing at him (and I wasn't the only) when he first appeared on TV3's coverage of the Europa League thinking 'who is this fresh-faced w*nker?', but kudos to him, that website is really interesting and he seems to really know his stuff.

Barry Glendenning or Ken Early. Not because they are the best but because I enjoy reading/listening to them the most

Damn beat me to it! Dion Fanning is pretty good, can actually write in coherent sentences and stuff.

Ken Early. Only because most journos take that whole damn thing way too serious. You'd swear they were war correspondents.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,276 ✭✭✭IRISHSPORTSGUY

No mention of Roy Curtis? :pac:

Without doubt one of the worst "journalists" ( I use that term lightly ) in this country. Has not got a clue.

I know it's a vote for the best, but Paul Hyland is also very poor.

Mark McCadden is decent. I like Aidan Fitzmaurice as well.

Eamon Carr and Derek Foley of the Star (Target) are both worth a mention IMO.

Ken Early as he can propose his opinion and play devils advocate as well. Other journos have a sense of self importance about themselves, as if the world is waiting for everyone to hear their opinion and their opinion is presented as fact.

I listened to that Ken Earley guy once on the radio , had to switch off then. Hard to imagine someone more annoying

Watch Ken Early's interview with Roy Keane.

    It's pretty cringe.

He's a very average journo and a píss poor commentator. You'd nearly fall asleep listening to him. In fact, he's a hazard to drivers.

EDIT here it is, no video, just sound

Miguel Delaney for the name only, can't stand fanning and his self pre vacating bull****.
All the wannabe failed footballers like Sadlier do my nut also.

Now that's someone with a sense of self importance.

Don't think I've ever seen an article about the LOI from Dion Fanning.

Ken Early for all his brief of pushing the Premier League on Newstalk does at least acknowledges the existence of football on the island.

Anyway I chose Liam Mackey. Always an entertaining read and comes across like a just a cool guy.

Think we are served pretty well when I think about it.

Eamon Dunphy hands down. Hasn't a clue about football. Greatest troll ever.

"Who wrote it? I'll tell you who wrote it, I can remember his name; Rod Liddle. He's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one."

    :pac:

    Ken Early.

    Dion Fanning's decent too.

Not a fan of Delaney or McDonnell.

Emmet Malone for me but I would like listening to Ken Early.

Dion Fanning? Just no no no. Horse manure so he is

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,232 ✭✭✭meriwether

Sadlier has my utmost respect for having a good knowledge of LOI.

Its all well and good to be talking away about RVP on 'The Premiership' but he turns up on MNS and knows his LOI inside out.

An Irish football man, not just a an Irish guy who follwos the Premiership.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭geeky

    The Guardian's Paul Doyle.

Honorable mention to Sadlier - was never that fond of him as a player, but he's actually like a well-informed, more likeable Eamon Dunphy.

Glendenning is on the Guardian podcast more for his character and funny tales than his actual football knowledge which is actually pretty poor by standards of other Guardian lads. Earlys isn't the best either.

Like Delaney but disagree with his stance on Trap.

Sadlier for me. Really enjoy Ken Early as well
