a q for any helpful programmers

Hello,

While somewhat tech savy, I am a total newbie when it comes to programming so please excuse my complete lack of knowledge!

I would like someone to write a small programme for me, basically extracting information from a lot of emails, and sorting this information into different lists, ideally in an ecxel format. This information would need to be sorted alphabetically and create lists for different dates, the date included in the email would be deciding which list the information goes on.

What would someone charge to write a programme like this, or is there a an already existing programme out there that would do this fore me? Please pm me if you need any further clarification, as I probably haven't explained this very well!!

Not quite the same thing, but you can do a lot with Microsoft Outlook and its "create rule" functionality.

Eg. I have rules to move e-mails that come in from our automated build system, bug tracking system, various groups etc.

Once they're all in folders, you can sort them by date received.

If its outlook you can use VBA macro's/programming to do this.
or if its thunderbird you could do some scripting

Thanks, but not really what I am looking for though. Really need the information extracted into an excel sheet, not just sorting of emails.

This seems to be what I am looking for. I really have no experience at programming, but might have a go at it just out of curiosity. If it is beyond my ability, would anyone know whom I would approach to do it for me? What would I expect to pay for such a service?
