Does a HP C5180 all in one printer take non HP ink

Not sure if i'm posting in the right place so feel free to move mods.

The title says it all. I read the book and it says it detects non HP ink. Is this true? I've had it a few years and am only replacing the ink now as i don't use it much - but as it only works if all the ink cartridges are working i am appalled that the ink will cost so much.

I found very cheap replacements on line but i don't want to order it and then find out it doesn't work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

Have a look here and don't worry about using non-original ink as long as you get it from a reputable supplier. I draw the line at refilled cartridges as I've cleaned up too many messes after bad ones.

Thanks a million, bhickey. Is the €7.50 each the cheapest for HP?

I saw different maker had the whole 5 colours and black for 16 sterling.

third one down. Are they Ok?

Compatible ink cartridges are generally ok, some printers will reject some types of cartridges so buy off a reputable supplier as yoyo said

Whatever about those cartridges, stay well away from refilling cartridges unless you want your money wasted and a high risk of destroying the printer.

Yes, I have been using non HP 363 ink for a few years now and it has saved me a fortune. I normaly refill the inks myself and in the past have bought enough ink to last me almost a year (photo printing and normal printing) Only last week I bought new inks cartrages from amazon.co.uk (as my old HP cartredges started to fail after I made a HP update)

This cost less than two new HP inks and I will be able to refill them as I please. :)

The other thing, I bought bottels of bulk ink for here about three years ago and I am still using it to do refills
