Well you were parked on double yellows

Everyone else who does it is probably "just for a minute"

That's what you get for having a sick mother. I'd stick her in a home.

They better be some amazing fucking gloves.

No ticket = no fine. Otherwise they'd just send them out to everyone and say "I saw you there"

"The double yellow lines mean no parking at any time."

Sometimes you'll get away with it, sometimes not...

some real do gooders on here today.

There is nothing more annoying my friend.

a passing gardai car would be my guess.i got done for parking on a double yellow outside a shopping center and nothing was placed on my window.

there is an number on the top of the fine you can ring for the details as 150 sounds very high.be warned the one at the end of the phone is another upstanding member of socity.

You should write back telling them that you had the hazards on, which will remind them that people you can do whatever they want once they're on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I know im not suppose to park there, but 150 euro seems crazy, that would feed my family for a week !!!!!!!!
Sucks when your just trying to do a nice deed,
Also why didn't they put a ticket on the car,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭spoofilyj

it sucks that you have been fined 150 but that is the problem with us Irish myself included.

We think that the rules dont apply to us when it does not suit us for them to apply.

Double yellow lines are not for parking on ever and I would imagine because if this fine you will probly not park on them again in a hurry.

Too often I see people parked on footpaths, cyclepaths, double yellow lines and yellow boxes with the hazzard lights on and not a bother on them,

Its actually really inconvienient for other road users when people do this and I like when the rules are enforced.

150 euro is a ridiculous fine for this "offence". I would definitely contest it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

well hazard means there's a problem right ??? so surely they should have seen an old lady in the car by herself and maybe asked her whats up : )

You can always ask if they'd allow you to submit a a charitable donation to a family who are currently unable to feed themselves. There's that Garda having a spot of bother to get a few bites for his family.

I think you should be fined an additional 150 euro from boards.ie for using too many exclamation marks, and for using a lowercase 'e' to signify Euro.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭Ellis Dee

A single yellow line means no parking at all. A double one means no parking at all at all.;);)

It cost you €150, but now you know something that a lot of Irish motorists don't seem to have grasped yet: That your hazard lights don't make the car invisible when it's illegally parked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,235 ✭✭✭✭Cee-Jay-Cee

I'd say it was the hazard lights that got you a ticket. If I were a traffic warden I'd give two tickets to idiots who think putting the hazards on is some sort of get out if jail card that allows them abandon their car where ever they like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Just so people know i realise i cant park there its just that 150 euro is nuts, 50 ok fair enough but 150 is madness,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I did the same on a Friday night in town about 2 years ago, ran the risk of parking on the double yellows instead of looking for a spot and picked up an €80 fine.

You sure the €150 is right, seems very excessive.

You do realise that fines are supposed to be an inconvenience and a deterrent from reoffending?

This is wrong I'm afraid - a Garda can fine you without leaving a ticket on your car.

*although I do agree that 150 is a bit excessive.

    Parking fine - €150.

OP, you have my sympathies, that's annoying.

I too received a fine of €150 for my dog fouling someone's garden while I had him out for a walk.
I was going to fight it but the complainant had a dossier with time dated video of the dog doing the deed & me whistling at him to follow on.
I agreed with the council to pay €20 a month, I paid the first month then "forgot" about further payments.
Hasn't been a word about 8 months later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

i know that but they didn't know thats what the problem was plus it was outside a doctors,

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,591 ✭✭✭blue note

I'm amazed at the lack of sympathy for the op. Very similar thing happened to my mother - she drove an elderly disabled neighbour to the doctors. Double parked when she was helping her in (with hazards on and disabled badge on the car) and got a ticket for it. It's all grand saying she shouldn't have parked there, but what's the alternative? The person wasn't capable of walking any distance. Surely people would be understanding about this sort of thing.

    Rant over,

Get the right judge you could do a lot more for that fine.....you could really treat yourself...

Some bloke got fined 15,000 for sexually assaulting a 17 yr old with previous.

You should not have parked they rake money in like this. But still this country should be publically humiliated to the world.

    Sorry OP it is excessive.

I thought there was some bye law which allows for stopping on double yellow line for up to 30 mins for loading and unloading as long as someone's in the car. Check that out maybe OP!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,709 ✭✭✭Feisar

It sucks but you did break the rules. When I park and it's half an hour till the parking is free I just accept I may get clamped. Rules are rules and it's not about the one minute, it may be dangerous to pull up there. You took your chances and got caught now man (or woman) the funk up and pay the fine if you have to. But remember, yer not bet till yer bet!

First they came for the socialists...

Erm I think the alternative is to park in a parking spot...

It sounds like this would count as an extenuating circumstance. I would recommend appealing this ticket.

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭omega666

how can they prove it without a ticket.
A traffic warden will take photos/give a ticket as evidence of the offence.
How can they prove you committed the offence without some evidence?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭Plazaman

You should write back telling them that you had the hazards on, which will remind them that people you can do whatever they want once they're on.

And make sure you say you were just "nipping in".

Nipping in + Hazards = 5-10 mins free parking anywhere, anytime.

If it came to court and a member of AGS gave his word that he saw the OP's vehicle parked on double yellow lines, then the judge would accept it. Simple as.
