Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shimano SPD cleat movement in pedal

    I got some dual sided shimano SPD M324 pedals recently and was a little disappointed by them.

    When pulling back or pulling up on the pedal, the cleat moves a little within the pedal. I am using the cleats that came with the pedal. The cleats are tightly fitted to the shoe. The movement is forward/back as opposed to the float/side to side movement.

    I observed this while my foot was not in the shoe (pushing the shoe by hand while not on the bike) and could see the cleat moving from front to back within the pedal clip

    I have adjusted the spring via the pedal tension screw to its strongest position and the problem persists.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Is it normal or have a sub-standard pair of pedals slipped past QC into my welcoming bosom?

    I've had the M324s and not noticed any problems, though they do come with SH56 multi-release cleats rather than SH51 single release, which could be the source of your problem.

    another annoying thing about them is (not sure how to describe it) the distance from saddle to pedal is shorter when clipped in than when using the opposite side flat surface.

    twould be handy to have a quick release saddle post bolt.
