Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A lot of yellow cards for stoke is my prediction

    Which will be greater?

United to score more goals or Stoke to get more yellow cards?

Stoke are a disgrace, it's not fair etc etc!

After Gill's new appointment United will get 4 penalties at least. 3 red cards for Stoke too.

Stoke Yellow cards. It will be tough for United to get at least 7 goals in this:P

Im going for 3-0 United. Feeling confident. Rooney and RVP to score at least one each.

Fergie to play the guessing game with Stoke:

    http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2012/Oct/sir-alex-ferguson-undecided-on-formation-for-stoke.aspx

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he is likely to shift between playing with wingers and adopting a diamond formation.

Operating without wide men allows Wayne Rooney to drop deeper with fellow strikers Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck also selected in the same line-up for United's 3-0 success at Newcastle last time out.

As the manager is keen to stress his squad's strength is in attack, it means he can play more of his out-and-out forwards but Ashley Young's return to fitness means he, Nani and Antonio Valencia also offer outstanding options on the flanks.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis will be kept guessing as to the Reds' tactical intentions for Saturday's clash at Old Trafford.

"It is going to be difficult picking teams," confessed Sir Alex. "Sometimes I think the diamond formation can work. Other times, we need width.

"I am flexible. There are benefits both ways. It is unusual for us to play without wingers. Both Newcastle games and in Cluj it definitely worked very well. It gave our opponents a lot of problems. Obviously teams will work it out now.

"Tony Pulis will be wondering what I am going to do, whether I am going to play with wide players or a diamond. I might play wide players and a diamond and play with two defenders!"

Stoke will pose problems of their own with their awkward style and direct tactics, but Sir Alex is confident his team can handle the threat.

"Play your own game," he asserted. "You can over-worry about these things. We know they are going to get set-pieces. We know they are going to put a long throw into our box. We know they are going to play long balls up to Peter Crouch.

"Our preparation is simple. We know what they are going to do. Sometimes you can play teams and not know exactly what they are going to do. With Stoke we know exactly what they are going to do. Let's play our game. Hopefully it works."

Looks like we could have a similar setup to what we saw against Newcastle.

Carrick and Scholes together these days is always a worry but may not be as big a factor today considering the opposition.

De Gea gets the nod again, which is great, although you just know there are going to be some very testing moments for him today especially considering the opposition again. I really hope he comes through unscathed as I just want to see him between the sticks as no 1 from now on.

I'd hate to see Fergie dropping him again for dropping a cross or two, especially if its against Stoke.

I'll go for a 3-1 win to Utd.

Decent enough start here. Could do with an early goal though.

**** sake. Why is he on Shawcross anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Scholes should take most of the blame for that, needlessly diving in with Kightly going nowhere.

Welbecks passing have been incredibly poor so far. So sick of these poor starts to matches. :(

    Horrible start

What a pain, watching this on Canal+ in Spain, who are also showing the City and Swansea match on the same channel. Switching between all 3 matches every few minutes, switched onto the United match and we were 1 down, only just saw the replay.

How are we playing, hard to gauge when its always changing.

    Very poor so far

Even Stoke have decided to play the ball through the Utd midfield.

Carrick/Scholes partnership is getting exposed most games now.

Scholes has started pretty poor, gave the free kick away needlessly, he has given the ball away in dangerous positions a few times. No chances created to note. Rooney/Welbz/RVP haven't got in the game yet. Valencia seems off colour. Poor poor start.
