I am looking at buying a new laptop. It will be used for the following:
    -School
-Gaming (Skyrim, Minecraft w/ shaders, Battlefield 3, Black Ops 2)
    -Recording Gameplay
    -Video editing (nothing too big)

I am thinking of buying this laptop:

    Summary of specs:
    Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz Dual-Core
    15.6" Display
    8 GB DDR3 SDRAM
    Hard Disk 500gb (I don't care about this, I have a 2.5TB external drive)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 610M 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Would this laptop be a good choice? Any advice would be really appreciated!
    Thanks!

Thanks! That's all I needed to know! This laptop is probably not for me!

Not with these games in mind. If you can stretch your budget a little bit, have a look ay PC Specialist and configure your own. The Genesis IV in the following configuration costs £564/€693 (plus delivery):

Comes with a 3 yr warranty, save 100 yoyos if you don't need the operating system.

The GT 640M looks a lot better:

And if that's not enough, you'll better look for a GTX 660M. :D
