6ft is huge, don't think youll get one that big in a shop, sounds like a commission job. I did see some big ones at bloom year before last.
Tractor wheel with some legs welded on?

Id be inclinded to say nearer the 1000 mark,to be honest with you.

It wont be an "off the shelf" item,as someone else said,it would be a comissioned piece.

    But you might get lucky.

You could get a few old empty metal barrels and cut them open, get a local welder to weld them all up together to make a giant BBQ style pit.

How "pretty" does it have to be????

It would be nice if it was pretty...

I might have around 500 euro to buy one.

What I really need it to do is protect the ground below from the fire.

Does it have to be round?
Maybe a bucket off a tractor, if needs be, placed on some concrete blocks, something like this:http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/tractors/3951595
edit: on second thoughts, you would have to take into consideration the paint on it.

I think I'd be best getting one made up if there aren't ready made ones out there.
I'd be most concerned of the safety of a DIY one

    6' isn't a fire pit, it's a bonfire.

The heat from a 6 foot pit would surely destroy anything above or below it unless its pretty high off the ground. Why not just make a bonfire and re-sod afterwards? Would be far cheaper.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

A load of 4 inch blocks, laid on the 8 inch flat side

Build up a 6 x 6 square fire bit and line the bottom/base with blocks too.

You will get blocks for 50-60 cents each in a builders providers these days.

100 euro would get you one hell of a "fire pit".

You would put it together in 30 minutes too.

Paddy is right, throw in a bag of sand to cover the gaps and you can build it any shape you want, still going to have to reseed the patch of lawn unless you fill it with sand and call it a sand pit after.

If I were to get one made. What type of place would one go to to make these things?

I would put sheets of tin on concrete blocks - easy to dispose of ashes & no damage to ground - have seen this done on woodland management work!

And the chances of getting someone to custom fabricate such a large structure between now and Wednesday afternoon is very slim...(bank holiday weekend comming up)

4 inch blocks is the way to go here.
