Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking at the latest filing, the group (boards, journal, adverts, daft) looks to have made a gross profit of EUR344,423.

I would've thought a lot more, is that after a lot of expensive salaries have been paid?

Maybe daft lost a lot in the property boom?

Surely adverts is making a mint, its 5 squids for the big ad, 3 for the others, I know some are free but i think most are paid and that a lotta ads.

I'm no marketing genius, but I doubt boards would make that much through advertising. If I wanted my product/service/company advertised, I wouldn't be too happy about it appear in threads about opening a sex shop in Tipperary, roma people stealing something and people avoiding paying the TV license

Certainly make enough to run a few permanent posts in the salary range of >50,000. Probably has a lot of value in the same way facebook has, if someone were to buy it out right, it would probably cost them millions but it's primary revenue are the ads.

Then choose where it is shown that gets you customers ? I imagine they make a fair bit with their e-footfall

Ads don't have to be clicked to generate revenue. It's per impression.
What if we have a bad impression of an Ad? Does that cost Boards money? They should start charging to post - say 10c per post, like a text message. You could buy "Boards Credits" like a phone top-up, say €1, €5, €10 and then it would get used up as you posted. Two benefits, 1: I'd post a lot less garbage and 2: Profit..
