Halfords often have a particular brand on special, Castrol or Mobil1 are the way to go if they are on special offer like half price in there. I'd stick to known brands too, its not something you want to skimp on really. The full price of Castrol is about €45 and Mobil is about €35 for 4 to 5 litres.

Any local motor factors will have a decent enough budget brand in stock, maybe €15 to €25 for 5 litres.
