Do we need a mid sized (7-8,000 capacity) venue?

Going off a conversation in another thread, and a question that seems to pop up a lot, does Dublin need a mid sized (6-8,000 capacity) venue? If you'd have asked me 2 years ago then i'd have said yes, without a doubt, but now i'm not so sure. We have the like of The Olympia and Vicar Street, which are around the 1,100…

Pardon the cheeky Undead Thread, but just in case anyone is watching this, and happens to know...

How does the capacity of the O2 break down between standing (when in that mode), middle seated tier, and upper seated tier? Something like 8000, 2000, 4000, respectively?

Was recently at one of those aforesaid rock gigs that clearly didn't shift the whole unit, as the upper tier was "brick curtained off", but I've seen wildly varying estimates of the attendance from "one third sold" to "12000+".
