Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It doesnt look like he was done for statutory rape. He was done for rape rape so its deserved

He raped her, she did not rape him. What do you disagree with?

    Because he raped her.

It doesn't say she consented, which is what you're implying.

edit: seems I read slow :)

Assuming it doesn't mean statutory rape, I can't see the problem.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

the way it was said on the radio he raped her.. if it was drunken whatever everyone at the party wouldn't have gone to the neighbors at 4am to tell them...

  • Registered Users Posts: 404 ✭✭dukedalton

There was little detail in the media about the case. If they both consented, that would be one thing, but if she was incapacitated, well...

He was 15, she was 15. Both were very drunk. Why should this chap end up in detention and she should get away?

    I disagree.

Because he pleaded guilty to rape? Drink is not a defence to rape, you know, and there is no indication that this falls under the Romeo & Juliet law in the article. So what, specifically, do you disagree with?

Why would they punish her, she got raped :/

i think age of consent is irrelevant here

I seen it on the news and she did not consent in fact she told him to stop, she had gone to bed alone, he went into the room when she was asleep.

She didn't consent to sex with him = rape = illegal = rightly deserved custodial sentence.....it's not rocket science

RTE article on it doesn't go into much detail..Breaking News.ie has a better one.

    I disagree.

Well apparently she was crying and pleading for him to stop at the time. He wasn't bothered enough to listen to her.. so yeah, not really equal in their culpability.
