Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After some haggling this found its way into my shed last week...thirsty, but a real old cruiser. Just did the KVV&CCC Autumn run without a hitch at the weekend.

    Very nice,well ware.
I quite fancy one of these myself.
You could always rip out the thirsty petrol lump,
I reckon a 2.8 Nissan diesel would slip in nicely:p
The white lettering on the tyres has got to go too,
    it's not a muscle car you know:D

I thought that about the tyres but they've grown on me, they'd match a nice Rover V8 under the hood.
Thirsty ? ( now that gets my goat up  )
But sure what mileage would ye be doing!
Fine putting a diesel in but I don't know what sort of maths people are using when considering a diesel -
    1) Cost of the engine and the price of the conversion
    2) Price of diesel parts/injectors/pumps

So how about getting your money back after 20 years ???:eek:

This bloody country is obsessed with 'Put a diesel in':mad::mad:

If i put a pair of tits on you because ud look nicer would that be a good thing?:p
Its a 3 litre 6 cylinder engined car that does 19mpg on a good day, i fully understand the fuel consumption implications of such a car! If i wanted a rattly ol dayshul i would have bought an old Merc!
As Capri says, i wont be doing much miles in it.

The white lettering is a love or hate point alright, but they are classic tyres in their own right as i dont think that particular type with the raised lettering are availible anymore. She will be gettting a set of Rover P5 rostyles same as the banger raced one in the other picture as soon as i can get a set, they are 15'' so the tyres will have to be laid up.

Good on ya Carch., PETROLHEADS RULE :cool:

I'd leave the wheels/hubcaps/trimrings as they stand - it looks grand, the P5B Rostyles look a bit 'thin' compared to the chunky current look ( I'd say Brendan Brady down in Arklow 'World of Wheels' could get those raised letter tires for you )

A set of 'Ace' plates maybe ?

There's enough 'routine maint' to be done without the hassle of doing an iffy diesel conversion - just enjoy the ride and polishing it.

The diesel comment was very tounge in cheek,
maybe I should leave my sense of humor at the door the next time I come in;)

Chrome Rostyles would set it off nicely:)

    Any interesting history with her?

Oh yeah, the tits didn't make much of an improvement,
can i exchange them for something else:D

Yes, something along the lines of that will come in time, the existing plates are rubbish. But the eye watering price of Ace Peak plates is another factor to consider. I do have a horn for the chrome Rostyles though...think they look great on them.

Rathgar Motor factors / Radiator Services do 'original' plates at different prices. I saw some 'Quinn' ZV plates ( the 'original' plate of choice in the 60's )around too, don't know who does them.
If you put 'Wide oval' , or similar, tires on the Rostyles it might beef them up :confused:https://www.universaltire.com/firestone-tires/firestone-wide-oval.html

I have a 16/60, a smaller car, but a similar Farina design. Hope it goes well. Presumably it has power steering.

Same centre section/doors, just longer front/rear. I wouldn't say there's p/s, they were MEN in them days

It's a far bigger car all round than the 16/60. Much wider as well as longer.
Power steering? That's for the wimmin!:D

P/Steering was an option on them, Wolsleley 6/99s had 14" rims instead of the 13"s on the 6/110 . Rare car, only 13,301 MK2s built.

Think the MK1 6/110s had 14'' rims also. Rare also because they were the banger racers tool of choice in the late 70s and 80s, one even won the world final in 1986.
