    Hi,
Basically, within 20 miles west of Galway city an industry has a machine which functions via a specially built PC, running on Win NT and an installed software for which there are no installation discs.
We are having an issue whereby we can not get PC to fully boot up. There is an image on another hard drive which was installed to try rectify, but does not run the software (it did at image time some years ago).
At this stage, they are willing to try anything. Even if it means causing hardware / software issues.
The plant IT people have exhausted everything from there side.
Is there anybody willing to give it a go, or who knows someone, to try resolve or at least give direction (ie. totally un-retreivable or motherboard gone etc. etc)? We can not send system out, so would need someone on site.
Please PM me any contact details.
    Many thanks

If it's not the drive at fault then perhaps connect it to a good computer running VirtualBox and run the system virtually ?

A virtual machine is all good and well, as long as the software does not control some hardware interface.

While it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement machine to run NT, the real problem seems to be the missing installation disks for the software in question. What about the software company, do they still exist?

What is the software? What format is the image of the original machine in?

Hi, the image was made on to an identical 7.5G IDE Quantum Fireball hardrive some years ago, and from what I understand, this was tested at time of imaging by swopping out with PC and it worked.
Would this point to a hardware issue/conflict?
    Thanks

When they connect the cloned drive, it doesn't work at all or it's just the software in question that was not included at the time of cloning?
