Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two attacking midfielders is interesting or plain reckless, we'll see which.

All 3 have played further up the pitch or more in the centre so it will be interesting to see what the makeup of the midfield will be.

The thing is I'm not sure if I see any of them very suited to playing the role that Allen has been playing so well.

He would have been my first choice of first teamers to play. And with Henderson overlooked his absence appears even more bizarre. I can only imagine its been done to suit the opposition, but I worry about our ability to keep the ball and dominate possession.

I think we might see a more direct Liverpool tonight. It will certainly be an interesting area to watch.

Anzhi don't look up for it at all.
If Liverpool have anything about them tonight they should win this without too much hassle.

If Rodgers would just play Borini in the middle a front 3 of Assaidi/Sterling-Borini-Suarez would be fantastic. Suarez looks so suited to the RF role.

Do you want Borini to play on crutches?

Agreed, though Borini probably won't get a look in after we sign Cavani and Llorente in January.

To say assaidi is a willing runner is an understatement, pity there is never anyone in the box.

The passing from Anzhi really is atrocious.

Wish we didn't have Suarez running himself into the ground the Thursday before a Merseyside Derby.

Havent seen too much of him since he is playing in Sterlings spot, but he looks like a good bit of business.

    Sorry, don't know that one

In fact, I'm pretty sure there is none in Liverpool or, indeed, Britain

Good half without much penetration. Guess you could write that about lots of games this season.

    Assaidi has been class.

Dominating the game without really creating too many clear cut chances. Need to try something different in the 2nd half.

this thread is about as lively as the match and the Anfield crowd...

As polite and well mannered a game as I have ever seen so far!

Assaidi I like, showing some good stuff with Johnson, Luis Suarez is doing my fecking head in. :pac: A couple more nutmegs, holding onto the ball too long, a bit histrionic, wrong option taken and so on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Some good stuff, no decent end product though. Suarez is meant to be playing as a striker put he spends most of his time running himself into the ground on the wings, creating chances for a player who isn't there in the box.

Generation Y are too busy tweeting, facebooking, and blogging to actively support the team. They're waiting to be entertained. Leads to a sh1te atmosphere.

We look good down the left, keeping the ball as far away from Downing as possible seems to be a good tactic :P

    Just one?

Came on to post pretty much what OPR just said.

Decent performance, but we haven't threatened much. To be fair Anzhi have a strong defensive record and they look like they're here for the draw. We have been the better team and must go all out for the win in the 2nd half.

Assaidi must be seriously playing himself into Rodgers' first team plans. He looks dangerous every time he gets on the ball and has linked up very well with Johnson. Unfortunately Wisdom and Downing don't carry anything near the same threat on the other side, so our attacks are predictably coming down the left side repeatedly.

Would love to see Assaidi and Sterling on either flank at the same time - the pace and ability to beat a man on both sides would be frightening for the defence.

Disappointingly I see this ending goalless to be honest. Hopefully we can nick a goal. I believe we can keep them out if we get our noses in front.

If Young Boys beat Udinese a draw won't be a disaster at least
