    HeeHee you said Ass

The Wallet inspector must have been doing the rounds with the password police.

I tried using 'fortnight' as my password before but it said it was too weak

my hunter2 password seems safe yet...

Hah just looking at this though and you really can see peoples uselessness for passwords.

    Number 1 Password is password.

So to make things more secure over the last while i've noticed more and more that you have to have a number or special character included to make it harder to creack so what do people do?

    password1

i know some of these are maybe multi logins for work and need a million passwords etc but come one people!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,195 ✭✭✭✭Pherekydes

I don't actually know my password. When I chose it I just closed my eyes and mashed the keyboard. Any time I need to enter it I do the same. It works nearly every time.

At the time of the 'great boards hack' I think my password was asdfghjkl.
This was also my email password. :o:o

I don't think it had occurred to me before that anyone would be interested in hacking my boards account or email.
I also thought I was great for not using qwerty... :pac:

Obviously since then I've changed it to passw0rd. Like, I'm not a complete idiot. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,488 ✭✭✭kingtut

I have a different password for each thing that I use :o

.... but I have any easy way of remembering them because I use ...

    xxxxxxxx_boards, xxxxxxxx_gmail etc .....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Doyler92

My password is "incorrect". So whenever I forget my password the computer tells me you password is incorrect.

My ex, who was a dumbass, a very paranoid dumbass, spent an hour trying to get into my email account using passwords such as my horse's name, my budgie's name, my (previous) ex's name; throwing a minor tantrum each time one didn't work, and getting a sly grin when he thought of the next one. I watched. It was entertaining. And no, I never tried to guess his. It just didn't seem worthwhile or interesting to me.

I use the LastPass browser plugin to generate & store random & secure passwords for each website.

So I only need to remember one master password for LastPass, but wouldn't have a clue what each individual websites password is.

When some hackers release a database of users and their passwords, these passwords are sorted by most common and then the media reports on it. I think one of the recent ones was when the playstation databases got released.

Apparently a longer password is better than a complex one. So ireallylikepoptartsido is better than Sv_tU%# . Something to do with the hack bots not recognising words, Also it's easier to remember/type.

I'm just puzzled that so many people sit around thinking "Hmm, I need a password, something not easily guessed, I know - monkey!"

Password, 12345, qwerty, I can understand. A whole bunch of people simultaneously thinking "monkey" is just a bit worrying.

Annoyingly, some sites put a low enough limit on the amount of characters you can use in a password, tickermaster.ie I know make you keep it below 10 or something

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

The great thing about boards is that it will always hide your password if you enter it in a post. Try it out.

    Here's mine: *********

My Daughter's name & Year Of Birth. Used to be Daughter's name & age. But as the years went on I forgot how old she was when I first chose it!!!

I use the one password for everything (within reason), its someones name in most cases, trouble is different websites want different password specifications and want numbers and upper/lower case so I end up with the following variations

    johnmurphy
    Johnmurphy
    johnmurphy1234
    Johnmurphy1234
    john1234
    John1234

Its a complete disaster, if I get asked for log in details and my computer dosn't remember I'm not logging in.
surprise surprise johnmurphy is not my real password
