Bit more to the story here by the Irish Examiner:

Garda sources said the man had acknowledged he had sex with the woman and he was the father of the girl. Sources said the man said he had consensual sex and absolutely denied rape took place. It is further understood that the man has paid maintenance towards the child.

Legal sources said the investigation and any prosecution would be fraught with difficulties. "There’s no scene, no forensic evidence, so it could be just one word against ano-ther," said a source. "It would be a minefield from a prosecution point of view."

I have no idea who the alleged culprit might be, but it's at times like this I wish I believed in the sky fairy, because then I'd be down on my knees praying: "Oh almighty sky fairy, let it be [fill in the name of the smarmy, hypocritical and probably craw-thumping establishment cnut yourself].":D:D

How does that prove he's guilty of rape??

According to one of the reports he says consensual, kid born and he's been paying maintenance.

Now she says its rape? Unless she was examined at the time, there is nothing that proves your rocket science.

Make a statement to the gardaí and in time the person may get convicted

But even if they are not you can still launch a civil case. A criminal conviction would help
