''We want Phil'' was the chant from the Lakers last night.

The way Howard is looking he'll be gone from LA once he becomes a free agent in the summer. Looks like he doesn't want to be there at all.

    Are you Sam Smith? http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/smith_130107.html

It's just getting worse for the Lakers, Dwight, Pau and Hill out for the next two games at least!

If they can win approx 40 of their remaining 49 games they could scrape the 8th seed in the East.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

How likely is it now that the Lakers will miss the playoffs? They are 15-18 now which is way behind the number 8 seed Denver at 20-16. Add in injuries and lack of team chemistry.
A team with Kobe, Nash, Howard and Pau not making the playoffs is crazy.

True dat. It would be hilarious though on other levels....esp. as a Celtics fan.:)

Can see Howard high-tailing it straight outta Compton if they don't make it.....prob. even if they do at this stage tbh.

was watching NBA Tonight earlier and they were thinking that LA might try to trade Dwight as there is no way he will re-sign.

On a side note i see Sky Sports have acquired the rights to some NBA games starting with Knicks - Pistons

Interesting that all these reports without any valid sources about Dwight leaving are coming out now, when just two weeks ago he and his people were telling anyone who'd listen that he was happy with the Lakers and the intention was to resign!

wouldnt surprise if it goes either way to be honest, he has a harder time making up his mind than a child writing a letter to Santa. I think he problem stems from a desire to be in a big marketplace. This realistically leaves him with LA, Boston, Miami or New York as his options.

Rondo takes the spotlight off Wade by bumping another referee.

Also, Scott Skiles fired (mutually of course ;) ).
Feel a bit sorry for him. Bucks were never really contenders, but never tore up the team to rebuild properly. Missed an opportunity when they finally gave up on Bogut staying healthy.

I pity tha fool that believes a word out of Dwight Howard's mouth.

That said, there's not a team in the league that won't try and sign him.

Can't see the Lakers getting much by way of trading him as it'll only be for the last half od the season and with no guarantee to sign people will run a mile. LOYALTY BEEYATCH!

    http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/01/08/exclusive-phil-jackson-says-he-has-no-intention-of-coaching-again/
Phil Jackson will NOT be back as a coach this season. He said so himself Tuesday.

“I have no intention of ever coaching again,” Jackson told SheridanHoops.com in a brief statement.

He offered no elaboration, nor any details of how hard — if at all — the Brooklyn Nets had pushed to bring him in as the permanent replacement for Avery Johnson, who was hired last month.

But he also did not use the word “retired,” and his use of the word “intention” will be seen by many as a hedge. Moreover, the quote was similar to what Jackson said when he left the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011.

Jackson was the one and only long-term coaching target of the Nets, who are now expected to keep P.J. Carlesimo in the job for the remainder of the regular season. The team is 5-1 since Carlesimo took over, losing only to the San Antonio Spurs.

So while Jackson’s “intention” is to never coach again, he could always change his mind at the conclusion of this season. For now, things should remain peaceful around the Zen Master for the remainder of winter and spring.

Jackson comment to SheridanHoops was his first public statement of the season, and the hedge therein will undoubtedly lead others to contact him in the future. The scuttlebutt around the league Tuesday was that Jackson was in demand and another team — other than Brooklyn, and other than the Lakers — had recently inquired about Jackson’s availability.

Jackson’s statement also did not address a future role in some other capacity with an NBA team.

That is where Brooklyn could come back into the picture if owner Mikhail Prokhorov was willing to offer him a top executive job for the franchise that relocated to New York City this season after 36 years in New Jersey.

The Lakers really did drop an absolute bollock appointing D'Antoni ahead of him.

This team meeting the Heat had about rebounding hasn't really worked, to say the least!

Heat went cold in that 3Q and Pacers took the game by the scruff of the neck from that point. Deserved winners.

Elsewhere 4th consecutive loss notched up for the Lakers at Houston. Almost forgot, Nash hit 10K assists tonight. Some feat.

    NBA going back to Seattle?

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The Maloofs are finalizing an agreement to sell the Sacramento Kings to the Hansen-Ballmer led Seattle group, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

Hard to watch Nash in this Lakers team, I thought the saving grace of him going to my least favourite team might be that he'd have a good chance for a ring, not struggle to make the playoffs

Haha the ref in the LA game got caught on camera in a huddle with the 2 coaches saying "What I'm doing now is stalling for commercial time" and something about needing their help to pretend to talk?

Can't believe I put money on the Bulls. Smh. Outscored in three of four quarters and absolutely out hussled on the boards.

Lakers lose again at least, one positive from tonight. OKC up next for them :)

Couple of decent games coming up in the Grizzlies @ Golden State and Nuggets @ Clippers now.

Fkn hell how many chances did LA mess up in the last minute there to take the lead.

Jumped the gun it seems, 3 point win for the Spurs. Lakers miss two three pointers in the final possession!

    Brandon ****ing Jennings.

Belinelli missing a wide open 3 when we were down by 4 and getting some momentum was the killer.

    I'm calling it.

    After 35 games, they're 15-20.

Normally the 8th seed usually has a record of about 44-38, sometimes as high as 48-34.

With 47 games left, the Lakers would have to go at least 29-18 over their remaining games to qualify as the 8th seed. With the way teams are playing in the West and the competitiveness in that Conference, I just can't see that happening (unless someone deliberately throws games to qualify for the draft). They're currently 11th in their Conference, and with OKC up next, they're most likely to drop another game. Then in the following 8 games they play Miami, Chicago and OKC again. This could get very funny!

KG's WUM routine finally made someone snap.

Melo suspended for confronting him after the game on Monday.

Apparently Melo's wife tastes like honey nut cheerios.
