    the monitor has built in speakers... if u plug a 3.5mm cable from your pc's soundcard to that port u will hear sound coming from your pc

    I thought that was what it was for initially but I don't think that monitor has built in speakers?

    It's exceptionally thin & I can't see any reference to speakers. Maybe they are using the same casing as a model that has?

    Even if it doesn't have speakers, most monitors nowadays with HDMI input have a headphone output.

    You're right, it's the headphones jack.
