Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd be shocked if it was racist comments but if he just told them to feck off then fair enough. Also fair play for booking and sending off someone for diving, diving is ruining the game.

I think the John Terry case has proved conclusively that one is not necessry.

I imagine his outrage would have been unreal if he had been on the end of that particular refereeing performance.

And there's nothing wrong with being annoyed with an inept referee

He has no game this coming weekend but I suspect that he would have been suspended for his performance Anyway.

On a sidenote the linesman from the game is not suspended

I think he is, but just thought FA would impose the suspension with it being so high profile and all.

You can be suspended from places of work while investigations are taking place.

    Doesn't mean you are guilty.

Yeah there was an fa statement earlier saying him being involved would put unfair pressure on the teams in games he is officiating.
He would have to be really silly & really stupid to have made a racist comment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭amiable

I'm not sure if its been mentioned already but Clattenburg was suspended for a long period before.
Something in his personal/business life IIRC

Complaint from the "we aren't only doing this for the publicity" Black Lawyers association of the "we are in formative stages of setting up a black players union" fame.

That's f**king scummy behaviour. Thought he just got injured accidentally in the celebrations.

The complaint about Clattenberg should overshadow the stewart getting attacked/injured.

Not implying that was Chelsea's intentions but it could be a clever move. Hard to say until we find out what Clattenberg said I suppose.

They should have nice clearer pictures from sky, and the police should arrest and charge whoever threw a cowardly punch or two against a fecking steward on minimum wage from an agency. Wonder what exactly they thought he had done wrong. Pure moron.

He was actually sacked as a matter of fact. Issue with debts and sending emails to people that were deemed threatening. He appealed, though, and had it reduced to an eight-month suspension.

They're saying not racist, but 'inappropriate'.
Did you ever see the lip reads from some of the players, absolute disgrace the way they curse at refs, they're all adults,I for one , am sick and tired of all this racism etc stuff and the hypocrisy in this case is a joke imo.

Well they already have the right not to be racially abused.

I'm just perplexed as to what forming a union will achieve, will they go on strike if a player gets called a monkey by a fan? I just can't see it working tbh.

He is alleged to have said "It's not my fault you're Spanish" to Mata, suggesting the language barrier was a problem.

Don't recall anybody claiming they knew what was said. The only word I recall that was being put about was negrito... in Suarez defence.

I've seen numerous interviews conducted in English with Mata, dude speaks fluent English.

I don't buy it, unless Clattenburg was being deliberately condescending or was feigning a lack of comprehension to avoid the discussion.
