    Like I said...pathetic.

Not a single backup generator to Wall Street's accounting systems will have failed but a hospital......not as important.

    Bring on the ban.

With luck, it will be permanent and site wide.

And why would you say that? Have I said something hurtful? Illegal? Inappropriate?
Of have I just pointed out shallowness and you don't like it?

In other news.....another thousand women were raped today in the last 4 hours in the East Coast of the US.

I have been watching the 24/7 news all night, and I am thinking this was a little bit of an anti-climax.

Of course that didn't stop the news stations hyping it up like it was Judgement Day.

You will find any excuse. Any excuse to ride your little hobbyhorse.

Hurtful - yes to people who know people in the path of this hurricane.
Illegal - in breach of the charter and mod instruction, yes.
Inappropriate - If you really cannot understand why your comments are inappropriate I suggest you have someone explain it to you slowly.

The shallowness is your inability to conceive of Americans as anything more than a cartoon of your own imagining.

US nuclear plant declares "alert" after Sandy storm surge-NRC

Exelon Corp declared an "alert" at its New Jersey Oyster Creek nuclear power plant due to a record storm surge, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said on Monday, warning that a further rise in water levels could force operators to use emergency water supplies from a fire hose to cool spent uranium fuel rods.

How are people joking about this? Just because it's a faceless force killing people and not some sick serial killer.

I'm guessing later that when they say nothing happened you'll use this alert as evidence of a meltdown?

Its like watching a movie all that is happening over there, hopefully the number of lives lost isn't going to get out of hand.

Someone I know did a tarot card reading yesterday concerning the fate of New York - just for experiment sake. The card they got was The Moon. Which is a full moon drawing up water from the sea with towers and nightmare scenes during a night of hysteria.

Means nothing of course - but still interesting.

I was in New York for Hurricane Gloria in 1985.
The American media was ridiculous at the time.
They overreact on a scale you just cannot comprehend.

The storm wasn't so bad at all.
You just had to stay indoors and hope not to be the unlucky one affected by a power cut.

    WTF? This is so dumb!

Who brings a Tall Ship out into the middle of a class 1 hurricane?

The crew had to jump ship, were rescued but one member still missing.

Locally just a few trees down. Rain still lashing but an eerie calm. You've got to feel sorry for those in the thick of it and for families who've lost someone. What looks like hype is in fact not. A huge area is condensed into your living room's TV and news being news - they show what is newsworthy.

Boston and most of Massachusetts seems to have escaped any major damage and disruption luckily. Trains and underground back to normal schedules, offices and most schools are open today.

Still 300,000 without electricity but nothing on the scale of what NY/NJ is facing.

This was an interesting report that I saw
Nassau County Police also said a 46-year-old Garden City Park man blew off his hand to the wrist after he light a firework that he mistook for a candle at 6:04 p.m. ET during a power outage. He was inside his home. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital

A lot of work to get NY cleaned up.
This is a city that is 100% dependent on its bridges and tunnels.
Its amazing how even minor disruptions to the mass transit can cause serious problems, I cant even imagine the mess this will cause
But Im optimistic the worlds greatest city will be back on track soon enough
