Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I want to set up a fashion blog for Irish celebrities and was wondering where the best place is to get photos of them and how much I would expect to pay? Are there any free options available?

I have checked getty images but from a quick search not every celeb would have up to date pictures. I am totally new to this so any direction would be great thanks

my only advice on this , pay buttons you'll get buttons

to get original quality , you'll pay - like any service

Irish celebs are a bit of a niche market, in the sense that nobody really cares about them outside Ireland. As such you'll typically find any properly set up editorial shots of them will typically have been set up and commisioned for exclusive use for one publication or another.

I honestly cant see a magazine like Stellar or Hotpress giving you permission to use images from their shoots unless you were prepared to pay a serious amount of money. Honestly it'd probably be more cheaper and more practical to organise your own shoots.

For Irish celebs, you might be best going with one an Irish based agency who will have more images of Irish 'celebs', Getty will have no interest in a lot of them.

For free, you're probably looking at something like creative commons on Flickr, the photos won't be great though..

Thanks for the information guys, as this is only a blog I was hoping there would be an easy and cheap option for me. I guess I had better start reading up on what each of the sites has to offer (or not)

if you want to do a blog ...do a blog - but ONLY use images that you have actually taken yourself (if you must use images) ...or images which are clearly marked as with a creative commons licence.

there's nothing stopping you from creating a blog - its your writing/typing which should attract people to your blog ....not the pics !

If its that kind of a blog then maybe message people on flickr if you see a photo of a certain celeb, but never use them without asking first. I get asked all the time when it comes to music photography, but when I find one and no permission was asked I always push for it to be removed. I'd suggest basing the blog on good writing skills over pictures any day, a picture might attract someone but a nicely written article will keep them wanting more.

Other than that if you are truly stuck for images try to get pictures of celebs at red carpet events, I saw nothing but a wall of camera phones at the last premiere I covered and most of the celeb pictures on blogs are not that flattering or professional because they neither could afford buying specialized pre-shot images. Is it a private domain or are you just hosting on the likes of wordpress? most people doing that just use google images but even then I'd never advise just taking from there either. I have a few different blogs and I'm launching a music one in the next few days, at the moment I'm just writing reviews on the bulk of cds and ep's I've been sent and concentrating on having all my own images to back it up. Feel free to private me the link when its up and running, I wouldn't say no to having a look.
