Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hardest pick so far .

    Wanted Cabaye :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,623 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Its gonna be difficult when the picks come back around to me again. Was undecided whether to do for a defender or cabaye.

I went the defender route with Ivanovic. I think he is the best full back in the league this year and he is also top notch at centre back and gives me options later on if the depth in either position is not up to scratch.

    Liking EE's team so far.

Definitely a few other strikers that I would have gone for before Torres.

same amount of goals in the league this season as both Tevez and jelevic who were both picked ahead of him and more than rooney, aguero and podolski who also picked. I am more than happy to get him in the 3rd round.

    All subjective.

Watching this from the outside, there's one or two not gone yet i can't believe.
though they may not be a critical position yet

When they do go, do say who they were - I like hearing outside opinions in these things.

    Hardest pick so far.

cheers Blatter. very pleased to have gotten my "Makélélé" in Tiote, think he will be invaluable in behind my attackers (Suarez & Dzeko)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Glad to have gotten Balotelli, was convinced he was going to go before it got to me.

Oscars good value for this stage in the draft imo, I'd considered getting him myself but then remembered the last draft where I left it far too late to get defensive minded players in so went for Tiote instead. Some array of AM talent you have though with him, Cazorla & Nasri although personally I wouldnt consider any of them out and out wingers / WF's not that I can talk as again in my last draft team I had Zidane, Sneijder and another AMC (not picked yet so not named).

Yeah Oscar was my second preference after Mario this round. Blatter's got some great creativity there now.

Yep, none of them are wingers as such but I think they differ to the likes of Sneijder in that they're more mobile and will interchange a lot easier which goes along way to compensating for the lack of natural width. Remember none of Hazard, Mata or Oscar are natural wingers yet they cause havoc and look like they're going to be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.

Might want to edit that and leave out the player who hasnt been picked. ;)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,866 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Yeah id agree with that Blatter as if im honest I wasnt fully happy with my last draft team although speaking about the last draft the team that won the thing also had a strong focus on their AM trio (all picked/unavailable this time) of Ronaldo, Bale & Hagi iirc.

Only reason Walker made it this far is because he is having a very poor season, summarised by his disaster of a performance vs Wigan at the weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,907 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Yeah it was between Walker and Zabaleta for me but I want for the latter because he's more reliable and consistent (and I have man love).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Not a fan of Walker at all tbh, think he is heavily over-rated.

    I hate you Blatter. :(

Don't really but it's frustrating to see my choice go again. Great pick.

    Balotelli was one.
A few lads haven't got strikers yet and on his day, he's top class

I was praying he'd fall to me at the bottom of the third. Would have been incredible value at pick no.60. Is great value where he is at the moment.

Was just thinking about getting Joe. Thanks GK.

Pienaar and Hernandez are very good picks at this stage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

Pienaar and Berbatov were my ideal next picks in that order. Grr.

Edit: For god's sake, that's the second time a new pick's been made as I upload the thing...

  • Registered Users Posts: 958 ✭✭✭eugeneious

    1. Vidic
    2. Ramires.
    3. Ferdinand
    4. Berbatov

Very happy with those 4 as my first picks. Solid spine to my team so far.

Also, Baz was online today and never chose his 3rd pick.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,763 ✭✭✭Jax Teller

Hernandez would have been in my last pick only for his poor hold up play.
Wanted my striker to be able to do that well .

The picks are moving at a very nice pace today I have to say

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,763 ✭✭✭Jax Teller

Jagielka's not bad can double up as a sub keeper aswell :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 406 ✭✭Yurt

    Happy with my first 4.

    Bale
    Lucas
    Clichy
    Walcott

I must admit there were maybe 3-4 centre defenders of that standard remaining but I couldn't wait that long to get at least one quality CB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,391 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

He might be back in time but does Baz get another 12 hours when his pick comes around?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

The 12 hour time limit makes some difference. It's taken 6 days to get to 68 picks.

Compared to this 20 person draft, which took 12 days to get to that stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Haha we're doing a lot less writing about the picks this year.

Well he was online less than an hour ago, and was online previous to that and still hasn't picked.

If he doesn't pick by tonight, somebody else can take over the side.

Very true. Nobody really cares about that though :D
