Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Probably... They seem to have let the stock of previous devices go down so they can swap over to the new models and price structures

Supposedly available tomorrow in PC world, although I'd probably just try to find the 16gb one going for a steal somewhere!

Unless you're going to fill it up I'd go for the 16GB and save yourself a few quid.

I was holding out for the 32GB but gave in at the weekend and bought the 16GB when I had a proper think about it. I can't see myself filling it because 1) There isn't a camera to take photos with, 2) If I want music I can use my phone as it's more portable and 3) If I want to use something for movies on the go I have a 10 inch Acer Iconia that will be better for watching on. The most I can see going on it is a few books or limited netflix usage. If your use would be similar its worth considering it as an option anyway.

Seems to me like you didn't need to buy a Nexus 7 in the first place xD

Need vs Want and want won:D

I plan on using the bigger tablet for another use completely. I'm going to hook it up to the TV via HDMI cable and use it for netflix/internet with a bluetooth keyboard so wont be getting much use outside the house after that.

What do you need either of these for? With my Nexus 7 I can send stuff wirelessly to my tv if I want to view on the big screen, and if you want extra removable storage you can just use a usb otg cable.

    Hi Basil,

Could you let us know how to do this? I'm only getting used to my N7 so would be great if you could tell me. Cheers

I use an app called iMediaShare Lite HERE to send stuff straight to my Samsung TV. It works really well, but you probably need a TV with built in WiFi.

Alternatively, I'm pretty sure it works if sent to an xbox or ps3. I haven't tried through my xbox, although the app definitely sees it so shouldn't be a problem.

Also, if you have an xbox, the new xbox smartglass app is pretty cool, allowing you to control the xbox through your tablet or android phone. Makes using the built in browser on the new dashboard update much more pleasant to use. Although I'm pretty sure the Nexus 7 doesn't see the app when doing a play store search, it works fine if you sideload the apk.

Xbox Smartglass isn't compatible with the nexus 7 :(

If you obtain the apk via XDA it will work fine. I've been using it on mine since the weekend without any problems.

Anyone know whats the cheapest bricks and mortar store in Ireland for the Nexus 7 16GB or is it significantly cheaper to buy online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Korvanica

No its roughly the same if you buy online. Might be a tenner cheaper or so but you'll end up paying more for shipping etc. Thats what I noticed before I bought mine anyway might be different now though.
