    Any body else experienced this?

For the last few weeks people have asked me who the woman was who answered the phone when they rang me earlier. I'm the only person with access to my mobile phone. My brother did some investigating by dialing my number repeatedly, he has my number saved on his phone so there's no problem with inputting the number but he found that a few of the calls were answered by a woman, not me.

He questioned the woman and found out that she has been receiving many calls that are directed at me for some time now. I don't know how many calls/opportunities I've missed due to this problem.

It's something to do with the phone number, we've the exact same number but she has one digit different, for example:

    My Number: 086 0123456

    Her Number: 086 6012345

Ever heard of this happening before?

Just make sure that you give out the correct number to people.

A large number of phone numbers that exist that are just a digit out.

    eg -
    086 0123456
    086 0123457
    086 0123458
    086 0123459
    086 0123450
    086 0123455
    086 0123454
    086 0123453
    086 0123452
    086 0123451

Try dialling them all, and you will get more hits than misses.

So, you should always make sure people have your correct number.

As I was saying, my brother had my number saved correctly into his phone yet still some of the calls were going to this woman and some to me, so it's not a matter of giving a number out incorrectly.

As it turns out, I've resolved the situation in the last few minutes, I called meteor and after they did a bit of checking they found they had made a mistake and that they had set up a diverted call feature to this other woman's number. So after a number of seconds if I didn't answer my phone she then received my call.

I had the same problems with a meteor sim before where I kept getting one other persons calls it was bizarre!

Yes, knew someone with this problem before. Could text them but all calls got diverted to someone else's phone - poor guy was very confused receiving all these calls! Think he rang the company to get them to fix it up.

Easy to fix your own diverts.

Your voicemail number will have a 5 after the prefix

    eg -
    Number: 086 1234567
    Voicemail: 086 5 1234567

You should be able to go in to your settings and set/alter this yourself, any time you need.

Seriously sir, appreciate you are trying to be helpful but you need to read the posts more carefully.
    a. The spurious call diversions were due to a (Meteor) network error.
    b. The correct phone numbers had been selected directly from saved phone book entries.
