I should note that I do not recommend 3D for any film that isn't Goodbye to Language (and maybe Life of Pi), so your mileage may vary depending on your fondness for 3D technology. But in this particular case, there seems to be little suggestion that the 3D is anything other than an afterthought, at odds with the technology being used to make it.

Dredd and Gravity I'd throw into that group. I've never seen Avatar because I missed the 3D release and don't see the point in seeing it in 2D when 3D was so fundamental to the movie.

I'm flying home to the UK for this release. I need to see it with my close friends. It is Star Wars FFS. The guy who booked it has booked 3D disappointingly. Gives me an excuse to go to Cineworld a few days later though I guess.

Booked 2 tickets at the Savoy for the 8:05 showing on the Thursday!

The savoy screen 1 is the only real option, especially when the opening credits burst on screen!

What seats did you go for? The selection seems to be limited

His name is Kylo Ren and he is played by Adam Driver.

with mask on its Adam Driver, mask off, Mark Hamill

ala Vader being David Prose behind the mask, and Sebestian Shaw mask off..

I went for two in the middle aisle, should be fine I've never had a bad experience in the savoy!

Actually I love the place so much for big releases like this!

Booked for the 17th in the galactic screen in the savoy in Dublin.
It's my favourite screen /room in the city.

Am I right in saying there is a left section a middle section and the right section only has 2 seats?

I went for 2 seats in the middle aswell.

Interestingly, in the list of characters for this movie on the main Star Wars site does not include Skywalker

I'm starting to think Kylo Ren = Luke Skywalker

Definitely gonna wait a few weeks before going to this in cinema.

It's no doubt gonna be ruined by idiots.

Me too, Luke is one of the draws of this movie. Why wouldn't they put him on the poster, even if it was just in a cloak and not entirely clear. Han and Lea are there.

Also, as I said earlier, his picture isn't on the main page of the Starwars.com page for this movie but others are.

Kylo Ren = Luke Skywalker, could be, who knows.

But we have seen stills of Kylo Ren with no mask, and in the Asian trailer does it not show an unmasked Kylo Ren infront of a load of Storm Troopers?

I still think its 2 separate characters at the moment. I'm definitely gonna have this film ruined for me as I will want to wait a bit till the cinema calms down before going to see it.

There's a scroll bar along the bottom so the left section basically mirrors the right, either way you did right going for the middle : )

I reckon Luke is going to be the Yoda rather than the Obi-wan of this trilogy and thus won’t feature much in the first film except the end.

    We don't I suppose.

This would be my thinking too.

I think the film is the search for Luke and he doesn't appear till the end

I'm thinking about it... will make it to midnight anyway and see if I continue on from there. Kinda hoping it will be released on YouTube beforehand or within minutes of the half-time break.

    Two questions.

    1) Are any of midnight screenings 2D?

    2) Will it be shown in 2D in either the Cinewolrd IMAX or Odeon iSence screens?
