Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So then trick or treat? Brendan Rogers faces his last club for the first time in this 4th round tie. Liverpool have started to look a bit more settled of late having gone a whole 4 games without defeat, while Swansea after a very bright start have looked a bit more plausibly mid-table with just two wins since late August.

Having gone an early goal down against WBA Liverpool came back impressively with notable performances by Sahin, Pacheco and Assaidi. There is every chance all will play tonight along with the likes of Yesil, Henderson, Downing, Cole, Coates and Carra, the game against Newcastle isn't until Sunday so there may be bench time for a few of the A listers.

There is talk of Henderson at right back I have no idea if its a role he has played before, if it happens and Downing plays left back LFC will surely be playing the most expensive full back pairing in League Cup history (and that not something to be proud about!).

Henderson has filled in at RB at least twice for Liverpool. I'm not the guy's biggest fan in terms of his ability to impose himself on a game, but he did pretty well each time he was used at RB.

Think Swansea at 6/1 been offered by PP looks very tempting,, Double it up with 3/1 Norwich could make a nice little bet hmmmmm..

Can't see it as being shown anywhere on http://liveonsat.com/LJ_soccer_b_english_ALL.php which is usually comprehensive. Hopefully something might change during the day.

Suarez couldn't deal with only being the second best player at the club so he kidnapped Doni

Not listed on lof yet either, although I'm fairly confident it will be on there later.

I can't say I am keen on Henderson being played at right back. As the saying goes, he probably can "do a job" in that position, but I can't help but feel that players are damaged in the long-term if they are shunted about the place. My team would be.

    Gulasci
    Wisdom - Sama - Coates - Enrique
    -- Shelvey - Henderson - Adorjan
    --- Downing - Morgan - Cole

Sama and Adorjan have impressed the most in under-21 action, so I really think they deserve a senior game. Yesil has impressed less so to be honest, I would actually say that Morgan has marginally looked the better player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,880 ✭✭✭✭klose

Presumably sama and adorjan are over in Germany for the next gen game, Morgan definitely is anyways. I would shed a tear if Pacheco scored tonight

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Morgan is in Dortmund for the Next Gen game at 6 pm, I doubt he'll make it back in time.

Got €1 on Assaidi to score 2 or more goals @14/1. Milky bars are on me later if it comes in. (Milky bars may be collected by trick or treating)

How seriously have Swansea taken this competition? If they put out a strong team they have a great chance tonight. They were fantastic against City at the weekend.

    Jones,
    Henderson Carra, Coates,Robinson,
    Shelvey, Allen,
    Cole,
    ---Downing----Yesil----Assaidi

Subs Ward, Suarez, Gerrard, Suso, Sterling, Skrtel, Wisdom

    ?

Seems a bit unbalanced, lots of attack on the bench which makes a change!

Who's on the bench to replace Cole after 10 minutes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,655 ✭✭✭El Inho

SUBS: Ward, Suarez, Gerrard, Suso, Sterling, Skrtel, Wisdom.

    dannyward.jpg
some say he's the next Doni.

    First Name Danny
    Surname Ward
    Position Goalkeeper
    D.O.B. 22 Jun 1993
    Town of Birth Wrexham
    Country of Birth Wales

Liverpool secured the services of highly rated Welsh youth international goalkeeper Danny Ward from Wrexham in January 2012.
The stopper will be based at the Academy and is eligible to play for Mike Marsh's U18s and Rodolfo Borrell's reserve team squad.
Ward, who made his U18s debut against Bolton on February 4, 2012, signed for Wrexham as a 14-year-old.
The keeper turned in a Man of the Match performance during his senior debut in a one-off loan game for Wrexham's Blue Square Bet Premier League rivals Tamworth last season.
Internationally, Ward has played at schoolboy, U17s, U19s and U21s level for his country and featured in a UEFA qualifying tournament based in Slovakia in September 2011.
In the summer of 2012, Ward was part of the first-team squad who made the trip out to North America for the pre-season tour.

An unnecessary look into our 5th choice keeper....

This must be the first time in like seven years since we played four consecutive games without Reina

Cole in centre attacking midfield...interesting. I'd worry about the game bypassing him there.

Comparing tonights line up against other competitions we have seen so far . I think it's safe to say Brendan has it at the bottom of the priority list.

Swansea at near full strength. Backing Swansea :o

I think Buck Rodgers is shooting for the stars with this line up, it'll be goal crazy. Going for 8 - 6 scoreline.

One finds interesting things inside omelet's.

On a completely unrelated note, as a short term fix, I'm watching the Man City V Juventus Nextgen match - kind of hilarious, half the pitch is waterlogged and the ball isn't doing what anyone wants.
