Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Tom Brennan 5k - 20:52

    33 sec pb

Great to meet so many boardsies. Slightly disconcerting though that I'm known as the infamous career_move!!

The race went well enough. I lined up behind Marthastew but I knew I wouldnt keep with her. I kept her in my sight for the first k before she disappeared in a cloud of dust. 1st k 4:13. I was feeling quite comfortable for the second k but when I looked ať my watch the pace had dropped to 4:30. Sh!t better motor on a bit. 2nd k 4:15. I was trying to hide behind people for the windy bits but it was still tough and 3rd was 4:13. I tried really hard to pick up the pace for the last 2k but I never felt like I was motoring. 4th k 4:03. I was on my own for the last half k and even though I pushed for the finish I only managed 4:06

So not too bad a day and ať least I got under 21

Enjoyed the cool down with Younganne and co and now before I can delete this for a 4th time I'm going to press send!!!!!!

    30 min yoga

Weight = 62kg. Back on the chocolate detox plan as of this evening. I lasted 2 weeks before xmas. Might try and keep it going till after Dungarvan this time :D

The chocolate detox didn't even last 24 hrs. Sorry Redrunner for letting the team down emo48.gifI promise I will try harder tomorrow :o

The pain in my knee is not getting any better and its making me anxious. I went to a physical therapist this evening and it feels much looser now but I was told I needed orthotics.....again  We had this discussion before DCM and I decided not to get them. Its confusing because there is so many conflicting opinions. Dum di dum. I'm gonna go with my gut feeling though and that's still telling me no so......

My new new years resolution is................drumroll...............I'm giving up the faster sessions :D

Hey CM, how come you dont want the orthotics? Do you not think you need them

I don't know is the simple answer but I've had no real problems until I did the 3+2+2 @ 10k pace on Dec 18th. Since then the knee has been a bit tight but it hasn't got any worse. It just hasn't got any better and it was a bit niggly during the 5k race on tues. My issue with the orthotics is that the physio I saw a few months ago didn't think I needed them and Kevin in AK didn't mention I needed them a few weeks ago and I disagree with vets/farriers who use similar things in horses because all it does is put pressure on other structures

Ah right, when I was having problems with my knee last year my physio told me it was because of weakness in my glutes but you must be doing all of those type of exercises anyway with your yoga etc.

    Friday:

    5 mi @ 9:01

I can't remember anything about this, even though it was yesterday. Hmmm strange

    20 min core/10 min yoga

    Saturday:

    13 mi @ 9:08

I was supposed to do this early but when I woke up this morning I could hardly drag myself out of bed never mind round the roads so I figured a rest day was on the cards. During the morning though I must have untapped a hidden store of energy and I headed out around half 12 not quite full of the joys of life but definitely ready to run at least 10 miles. Which turned into 11.....12......13 :D I'm glad I did it anyway. I always feel happier when I run :D

    30 min yoga/15min core
