Did you have any decorations out? I went out around Dooradoyle with my lot but would only let them call to houses with some sort of halloween decoration outside. We went early, 5.30, because we had a 2 & 3 year old and it was very quiet, we only passed 3 other groups.

I was out trick or treating with my kids and friends.
We would only call to houses with lights on / decorations up as the kids understand that not everyone wants trick or treaters to call. they get tired quickly too and want to go home to eat their goodies.
That said it was much much quieter around than last year

Back in my day there was no such thing as decorations.
We'd literally go door to door.
I remember having to return home to empty the contents of my bag and start again! :D

Nobody called to our house this year! :P

I was out for a run and got stuck in a herd of walkers on the living bridge in UL...had to fight my way through them...must have been 20 of them...

All my training finally paid off....not a scratch on me..

My doorbell only rang the once, unfortunately I was on the jacks so didn't get to answer it on time. Oh we'll... more sweets for me.

On a side note I hope everyone's pets are ok today, I took in a stray jack Russell yesterday that was quite distressed from the bangers and fireworks. I successfully tracked down the owners through a Facebook search and learned that they were away on holiday. Absolutely disgusting behaviour to leave a dog locked out on Halloween. Poor thing was shivering with fear and he was cold and hungry.

    Some people...

Nearly 30 trick-or-treaters. Had to break into the back-up supplies.
Twas all well behaved in the estate I was in.

Had the door ring about 10 times I'd say but I didn't go to the door. Busy sorting out some tiles upstairs. As an estate with about 60 houses a lot have kids. Normally the parents stand at the end of the drive and the kids come a knockin. They always say "Happy Halloween" or "Trick or Treat" so last year I tested it and said "Ok, so Trick" to some confused faces.

Ah well I tried but they didn't understand what the phrase Trick OR Treat meant.

I plan on dropping my boo-urns tactic from now on. :D

we only got 4 knocks at the door including my nephews but saw a flock of about 20 doing the houses after ours but never came to us, thankfully. Ten tons of fireworks set off very close to my house, I was more upset than the dog lol

Did not get one at the house. Then again high walls and an electric gate tend to keep folk out.

Being the misanthropic git that I am, I would have a bloody moat outside the walls if I was allowed. :D

OP, there was no chance they'd fall for the old blindfold milking a cow game again

Only got one group (4-5 very polite kids) here in central Limerick City.

Gave them mini Mars bars and they went happy. (Some kids in Manchester got more than they bargained for.)

I didn't put up any decorations this year. Girls gone too old to bother with them now, and noticed a serious lack of callers too in CHM. There could only have been about 8-10 knocks between 6 and 7.40, granted, there were at least 4/5 kids each time. Assume the lack of spooks outside the door didn't help :o On the upside - loads of sweets left over :D Happy daughters :)

I went all out this year. 2 pumpkins in the doorway outside, orange lights, shed loads of really good junk food and had a fake scream mask in the glass of the front door with a 'beware wolf' sign for the dog - our Husky. Not forgetting the rice crispy buns with orange sprinkles herself made.

6 knocks. To say I was dejected was an understatement. We're in the city and surrounded by 3 other estates.

The one silver lining was seeing the kids interacting with the dog, and how polite and greatful they all were. Not grabby or greedy at all...

Must go... Those buttons, rolos and malteasers won't eat themselves...

Quietest Halloween ever for our household this year.
We went all out previous years and nobody called Grrr so did not
bother this year with decorations but had lots of sweets.

A few years back had a few knacker kids in bin liners call (I sh*t you not) asking for money!!! said I had no change and the response was "paper money will do"

This year was surprisingly all quite for a pleasant change. 5-6 calls into the door with thankfully well behaved and polite kids escorted by parents at the end of the driveway.

I heard only a handful of bangers, saw only 1 Chinese lantern and thankfully
no gangs of 15-18 year olds running about and acting like retards like previous years. All Animals in this household were Kept in and almost stress free apart from a few cats panicking and on the window sill staring out at people.
