Why is everyone up on their high horse about this? The OP is right. Stop making smart ass comments like "call Joe Duffy", it's not contributing anything. The OP makes a valid point about scumbags being out of control. Society needs to step up to the plate and do something...it's all to easy to be derisive and sneer at the OP as if he has a bee in pants for moaning about something which is a problem everyone encounters everyday. Think of all the situations...cinema, bus, walking down the street. Can't think how many times I've crossed the street because of scumbags coming the other way...even today on the Luas I made eye contact with a teenage scumbag and he gave me a look as if he wanted to kill me right there...Should we be putting up with this crap? It should be the upstanding members of society who strut proudly through our streets without fear, not the low life, uneducated, machoistic phlegm that we have now.

You seem to be under the impression that kids can't behave anti-socially because that's "just what kids do".

I'm not singling out the kids at the cinema but using them as an example of the kind of culture these kids are growing into where its okay to be rude, foul, irresponsible and offensive to other people.

It is obvious he's looking to address the larger issue of scumbags out of control in a general sense...

If it was just scumbags in the cinema, then that would have been sorted by now.

Well, its not very civilized to see 12yr old kids using foul language now is it?

But it's civilised for an adult to use it? :pac:

Well its not really. But it seems to have become acceptable. I personally don't like people who swear and use foul language a lot, but that's just me I guess.

Although it is not right when kids use foul language. Maybe its just me again but when I was young my parents would have swatted me if they ever heard me swearing so I guess I just find it very distasteful when I hear other kids swear or hear people swear in front of their children.

I have a bit of a speech. I get up, walk back and say in as cold and a menacing a voice as I can manage. (Helps to picture Heisenberg)

"You seem to have made the mistake of confusing this cinema with your living room. Now, since you have pissed off me and the other paying customers, you have two choices. One, shut up and watch the film, two is to piss me off some more and I will make it my business to have you thrown out and barred from this cinema. Your choice."

My wife is a bit more direct. She takes her coke with her, if she gets a "fuck off" she empties on the lap of the little shit :D She is gonna get me killed one day.

****ty as it may be, you have chosen to live among the "uneducated, machoistic (sic) phlegm".
May I remind you of your own beginnings: Your father, probably drunk, mounted your mother, also probably drunk, and as the first cell in your body was splitting, your parents were, probably, regretting your very existence.
They smile and laugh at your jokes now, but, back then, they would give anything for you not to exist.
If only your father decided to have a ****, or wear a condom, then, I would not have to read your drivel - that which should have run down your mother's leg.

I hate people being disruptive in the cinema, I went to see Paranorman with my 6 year old and 3 year old nephews. Of course we were sitting beside a bunch of kids around 8/9 years old whose parents were sitting in the row in front of us but the little s**ts kept getting up and standing right in front of us to talk to their parents.

I had to ask them a couple of times to move as neither I or my nephews could see, but of course they kept doing it and with not one word from their parents to sit down.

My nephews were of course little angels and didn't budge throughout the whole film. :D But I know if they were to do that they would be told to sit down and to stay sitting down too.

I had a very similar experience on Sunday at the cinema except there were 2 different groups, they abused each other, other cinema goers and staff, they even insulted one of the guys who went out to complain about them calling him a rat among other things, seriously what do you expect people to do their paid to get in here to watch a film not to listen to ye lot.

They beat each other up in the back of the cinema and jumped around the seats like monkeys. Seriously if ever there was evidence or Darwins theory of evolution they were ****ing it. Eventually staff asked the first group to leave, when they said it wasn't them and they werent leaving, the attendant said that they would pause the movie and call the gardai, they then got a conscience and decided that they didnt want to ruin the film for everyone else  considering this was about 15 minutes from the end apparently they didn't realise that ship had already sailed. The second group were asked to leave about 5 minutes later and refused so the gards were called, we left at this stage, we were some of the last hangers on, pretty much everyone else had gotten sick and left at different stages throughout the film.

We got complementary tickets but in all honesty I was like a dog walking out of there. I honestly don't know what to do about these poorly socialised, poorly educated little mongoloids. But they are a ****ing disgrace. Oh and reading over my post I realise I sound really old, I am actually 21 but I suppose I have respect for other people and it really gets on my goat when I don't get it in return. Also who the **** goes to the cinema to do this ****, you paid to get in, is this not a complete waste of money, how stupid are they?

I'm 28 and grew up in a rough area yet myself and my friends simply NEVER engaged in any kind of crap like this when we were out.

Sometimes there would be 12 of us going to the Cinema or to play bowling etc. Never once did we cause any ruckus like this.

The standard of peoples behavior to one another has dropped sharply in the last few years.

THIS. This is what gets me riled up. I am 15 and whenever me and a few of my friends walk into a cinema screen everyone rolls their eyes, stares at us for no reason (Thinking we are the generic scumbag kids at the cinema.)

I never talk during a movie nor do my friends. We, unlike the majority of teenagers have respect and ****ing brains.

I recently went to see Skyfall and the cinema was maybe 3/4 full and there was another group of kids in there aswell (maybe 12-14yrs), they came in after us and sat 3 rows behind us. So I said to my mates lets get up and move because it was inevitable that they were going to disturb us during the movie, they has already started throwing popcorn at a couple of people. So we moved and the movie started. The "Security guard" was sitting in his chair at the bottom of the cinema and caught sight of the kids messing (Keep in mind they were talking, throwing popcorn and swearing at anyone who would tell them to shut up) and he basically threw them out. So that was that. On his way back down towards the door he asked my group of friends to leave too. So I said to him, "What have we done? We do not know those kids, why do we have to leave?" He then said to me "Because you are kids and ye are going to cause trouble." (something like that) Then out of the blue our savior, an old lad behind us basically said that we have done nothing wrong. Soooo the security guard walked away. But all throughout the movie he would walk up to us and just stand there like 5 minutes and it really pissed me off. In a sense you could say its discrimination but thats just my 2 cents on this whole cinema scumbag situation.

A few days ago I was watching a movie at the cinema. Unfortunately it so happened I was sharing the row with a group of what I could only describe as juvenile scum. Before the movie began they harassed the people around them, fought with the cinema attendant (using distinctively foul language) when asked to move one seat so that a group could get seats in a packed theatre, be a general disturbance throughout the film and when the film was over, they didn't leave before chucking their trash onto some unsuspecting unfortunate cinema goer below.

Although I managed to phase them out during the film and enjoyed the film, later it made me wonder what goes on in the head of these pricks when they partake in such behaviour? Why can't they not behave like responsible citizens and not be such an absolute waste of air and space. And mostly why do we as a society put up with such waste of DNA.

What can be done, if anything can be done, to fix these disordered youth into living a responsible and respectable life?

Their behaviour only gets reinforced when an entire room full of people sits there and lets them do it.

Baseball bat to the facial area oughta do it methinks.

    :pac:

Seriously though, if they were that bad and they weren't thrown out, I'd have left the movie, complained to the manager and asked for a refund. In fairness to the attendants, they may not have wanted to kick em out incase anything kicked off but if that was the case they should have called to cops to deal with them.

I went to see Lawless a while back and when I spotted a group of young teens sit down in front of us I rolled my eyes and expected trouble. However, there wasn't a peep from them- it was the 2 middle aged aul bags who caused the problems! Both me and my OH asked them politely to stf several times and they gave us evils afterwards. I mean, the cheek of wanting to watch a film you just paid a tenner to see....

The problem is the thread heading, 'Antisocial scum...'.

My concept of Antisocial scum - though I'm still uncomfortable with the phrase - is, drunken 'joy-riders' recklessly putting people's lives at risk, or a gang of 'brave lads' kicking some poor unfortunate 'round the streets of Temple Bar.

Annoying and frustrating as the experience may be, pesky teenagers misbehaving in a cinema shouldn't be labelled 'antisocial scum' but rather, pesky teenagers misbehaving in a cinema.

Though I suppose a thread titled 'Pesky teenagers misbehave in cinema' might not be very eye-catching.

Jesus those kids are boring these days.......
I remember back in 1993 watching Last Action Hero in a cinema in Germany. We were slightly older (a group of ten blokes around 15/16) and were drinking a couple of beers (which is sold in German cinemas).
When the film started we were quite pissed and everytime some Rock/Metal music was played we were headbanging and singing along to the tunes of AC/DC, Megadeth, Anthrax etc.
We thought we would get kicked out straight away but infact the crowd was cheering and dancing as well. :D

Anyway we didn't attack anybody or threw popcorn etc. but still got our attention.

Best time ever in a cinema:)

The simple answer is (and as unfair as it is) - You have two options

If you're going to Cineworld / Savoy / Tallaght go as off-peak as you can – Early a.m, or late p.m mid week. Some of the cinemas were doing over 18’s screenings for all movies regardless of it’s rating. Not sure if that still goes on, but it’d be worth going to those – you get like minded people who want to avoid the lowlifes.

Option two: Go to Lighthouse, IFI and also, Screen – All in the city centre and all tend to be free of scrotes.

They’re no more expensive…the only reason I can see that you would ever go to cienworld these days is for a Blockbuster that might not be on elsewhere but Lighthouse shows almost all releases now. The membership card of Cineworld isn’t worth it. The stress of dealing with idiots is too much.

I am not dissin the kids. I'm just stating what I saw and to me it is just unacceptable and inconsiderate behaviour.

I don't expect the kids to sit all upright and tight lipped throughout the movie but neither would I pass off harassing other movie goers, arguing with the cinema attendant in foul language when asked just to move over by one seat and throwing their trash onto someone's head as behaviour that can be passed away as "just what kids do".

Seeing as I've opted to go a film I've looked forward to seeing for the purposes of relaxation and leisure and paid excessively to be there, I absolutely, no foolin, do expect precisely that.

Of course it is only a minority.
Most kids I've come across are how you'ld perceive kids to be.

The thing about this particular group of kids was their absolute disregard for anyone around them, which is scary considering they're behaving in such a disorderly way at a young age which will only get worse as they grow up.

And at the expense of not trying to taint people with prejudices here, they looked like they belonged to the certain social group which is renowned for their ill behaviour.

Also I only rarely watch movies in cinema now. Only really bother going to the cinema if the movie is something worth paying 10-20eur for (include price of drinks, popcorn etc.) which aren't many movies lately. Although Skyfall wasn't that bad.
