LED light to replace Web cam

Would need Thinkpad style LED light on Asus K56CA.

I'm using a Thinkpad as work laptop and Thinklight works just perfect - no need for proper backlit keyboard.

I see this guide but the guy is taking power from a keyboard component/motherboard.

I would like to do this on a brand new laptop and don't want to go for opening the whole thing now and route a wire from down there - something could easily go wrong with my poor electronics skills.

That's why I thought maybe it's possible to take power from existing webcam wiring maybe?
So the only disassembling would be screen bezel right?
Also, switching the light ON/OFF would maybe work from Windows then (using some webcam software)?
