Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Iphone 5 - 1080 Hd video file sizes

Hey guys, i'm looking to get the iphone 5 and i'm having trouble deciding on what size to get, 16 or 32 (64 out of my price range) Id much rather the 32 but there is 100 quid in the difference (with three) so i wn;t get it unless i have to.

Was just wondering if i'll have a enough space on the 16gb as i'll be using it for quite a lot of video shooting. Can anyone tell me how much say 5 minutes of HD 1080 footage takes up on their iphone 5 please? I've done a bit of googling and come up with 5 minutes = 1Gb but it's mostly guess work so if anyone can confirm?

    Thanks

PS: how much would a few decent apps (the "must haves") take up? i dont mind taking photo's / music on and off but with video if i was in the middle of shooting something i'd hate for it to stop due to space.

    Get the 32GB.

I would say get a 32GB too but if you back your Iphone up to a Mac/pc everyday after taking a lot of videos problem solved. If you cannot back it up then 64GB is the only option

I can't say for the iPhone 5, but on my 4S (similar camera) with iOS 5 five minutes of 1080p takes up around 750MB.

Around 4GB is used up by apps, but I have a lot installed. Most of them are certainly not "must haves". :) 2GB is probably fine, unless you're into games, which can take up a lot of space. iOS itself takes up a good chunk of space too. Also, keep in mind that 16GB is more like 14-point-something in real life.

If you don't mind regularly moving all the videos off your phone, then 16GB might be enough. If you want to keep a few on the phone for viewing, though, or if you want to shoot large amounts between iTunes back-ups, then you may find yourself wishing that you got the 32GB one.
