Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's been a ****e 45 mins of football in fairness, I don't like these early games. It's takes a while for them to get going.

hilarious. "oooh utd get a pen, typical"

yeah, it was a handball, so of course it's a pen. his arms were raised, if they had have been tight to his body then it wouldn't have been a peno but there was air between his arms and body, thus he used his arms to obstruct the ball

Nice state from BBC. 10 penalties awarded in games between Arsenal and United in the Wenger era....all at Old Trafford and six have been missed

But United get penalties every game against Arsenal I thought?

It's says a lot about the game so far that the only major incident has being people disagreeing on a penalty - hopefully the second half will be much better.

Whens the last time Arsenal got a penalty at Old Trafford, or anywhere against United?

Lets all brush it under the carpet though? Just because United fans shout the loudest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,329 ✭✭✭Manc-Red

7 out of 20 penos not scored by Rooney for United for those who have an interest

Last year. At Old Trafford, DDG saved a RVP penalty.

Last time they played at Old Trafford in the league, didn't even need to check.

No, because Arsenal players commit offences in the box.

Is that number in your username your age?

Where is the consistency though, they are a pen one week and not another week.

I'd say Liverpool fans are disappointed the penalty incident didn't go the other way so they could get their Suarez joke in.

Incorrect, the hands, and obviously arms, moved to block the path of the ball.

    In the box.

    Penalty.

No they didn't, his elbow was struck, and didnt move between the ball being hit and striking him, so unless he sensed the ball would end up exactly there and moved his hand there in advance its impossible for it to have been deliberate.
Apart from the actual rule, it stopped the ball from hitting him in the stomach not from going anywhere else and no-one could describe it as deliberate handball.

As for the qualified ref malarkey, maybe you should retake the exams?

    Why? Is he coming off?
Not sure but asking for a players jersey at half time is ****ing odd. Anyways not really sure what happened other than he had RVPs jersey.

Wud be odd if RVP just randomly took it off and handed it too him.

They are nearly always a pen, when hands are that high.

It's a nothing argument. It's a pen whether its for the "evil" that is Man Utd or a Sunday league team.

What's the Suarez joke? I mean, apart from him in general.

Any chance a fair few of you could fúck off and start a soccer thread in the conspiracy theory forum? 'Clattenburg was the first to be caught', shíte like that ruins match threads.

Definite penalty for me anyway. Why do United get more penalties against Arsenal? Because they spend a lot of time attacking in our box, whereas at the other end they either force us to do most of our work outside it or we choose to!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,329 ✭✭✭Manc-Red

Arsenal better not sneak a 1-1 draw out of this.
