Hopefully nothing major but while out playing football with the kids earlier I tweaked my hamstring.Didn't feel too bad at the time but after a 100 odd mile drive this evening the hamstring is quite tight:(

Hopefully lots of icing, rest, foam rolling & stretching things will be ok.

Sounds like full blown taper madness to me :P ...seriously though doc fingers crossed for you :)
I'm not going to lie... that was my first thought too! :pac:

Hope everything is ok with your hamstring this morning Doc, I'll be the last DCM graduate standing at this stage! And I have a fear of going into pubs on my own, so you better make sure you're back to 100% by Monday so I'm not a billy no mates in the pub :D

Best of luck to everyone running in Cork on Monday! Enjoy :)

Fell off my bike yesterday. stupid triathlon.

Actually I kind of just toppled over at traffic lights, stupid cleats on shoes.

LOL - I watched Dara O' Briain talking about cyclists falling off their bikes last night (was feckin hilarious) His conclusion though was you never fall off your bike at speed - only when stationary like at traffic lights where there is plenty of people around you to witness it (and whilst in the specialist shoes the guy at the bike shop sold you that you forget how to get out of when starting to fall) :D

Yes, someone highlighted the Dara O'Briain thing to me as I was explaining it to them on twitter. No damage to man or machine, felt very stupid though.

Will not make it down to Cork this weekend due to an illness in the family. :(

I am not too disappointed for myself. Even doing the HM would have been touch and go as my ankle is quite sore again after my final long run the other day. Disappointed though for Mrs. Murph who would have been making her HM debut and has trained hard for it.

Good luck to those racing this weekend - hope it does well for you all and I look forward to the reports.

Tough luck Murph, there'll be other days.

Sorry hear that murphd77 on both counts ie on your sore ankle n family illness. Hope all be's ok. Can understand it disappointing for ur OH also! Rest up your ankle.

Very sorry to hear that murph, tough to have to pull out at the 11th hour. They seem to be pretty decent about deferring, so maybe you could defer until next year. Hope all is ok and everyone makes a full recovery.

Sorry to hear that Murph, sometimes in life other things can be more important than running, hope everything will be ok .

    How's your hamstring today D?

  • Registered Users Posts: 438 ✭✭docjewel

On a personal note, lots of icing, stretching, rolling & also rubdowns from Mrs Docjewel's magical hands, leg is feeling a bit better but its still a little nigly, especially after driving, refrained from running today but will test it a bit tomorrow & see how things are.

Mrs. Docjewel would want to be careful - with all the aching legs around here her magical hands could be in pretty big demand....:D

It's all going down here tonight!

Just packing the marathon gear for the weekend down home. Getting a bit excited now to be running my home marathon! :D

Going to be a cracker, just the little things like running through the tunnel and south link will be weird, but fun!!

    Are ya pacing it?

Does anyone know if Runkeeper ever gives mad readings? I had one mile tonight of 7 mins/mile and then the next at 10.22mins/mile. Both of which were highly unlikely. I took a look at the map of the route afterwards and the first mile was appearing jagged looking.

Nope, I'm running it for a bit of fun (if you can call it that!). Always intended to do it since the start of the year, with it being the home one.

It's great doing a home marathon, it's lovely not to have to worry about where to eat the night before or if the hotel does the right kind of porridge! I can't wait to run through the tunnel... I've driven through it every day for the last 11 years! Will be fun to run through it.

Nothing that relies on GPS is ever 100% accurate either in distance or position, especially where there is overhead tree cover or where the route is very twisty.

Good to see you are now a fully converted Corkonian! ;)

Well marathons are thin on the ground in Monaghan, so for this weekend only, I am calling myself a Corkconian!

Yeah is true, but wasnt either along the first mile anyway. Does the line on the map go jagged when the coverage is poor yeah?
