Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The police cert is valid for a year from issue date

There is nothing in the forms you can't answer yourself I would fill it in yourself and save the cash

No point filling in any forms you have seen until the new one is released as it may be totally different

The rumour is that this year the application will be submitted totally online but no one knows for sure until the forms and new criteria are released

Hiya, I would apply for a new police cert, because it needs to be within 3 months of issue. So if the forms become avail on Jan 1, your police cert will be almost 3 months old. To be safe, I'd apply for a new one. It is valid for a year but for the purposes of IEC, it needs to be within 3 months of issue.

I would say it is too early, but get on it asap in jan as it can take along time as everything you send goes to the UK to be cleared and then to france to be cleared. Can take id say 2-3 months in total. I went with go4less and although you could do it yourself i would recommend them as you do not want anything going wrong!!

Im not sure if this whole online thing will go ahead as there is alot in the application package inc. the likes of photo copies of parents passports depending on whose money you are using, garda clearance and so on.

1 of my friends got refused, one because her mothers name on her passport was different to that on her bank acc ... had to start the whole process again and barely got her visa in time.

hope this helped and best of luck!!

    Hi everyone,
I have received my guarda clearance cert back, and on it, it says I have a drink driving conviction which was nine years ago, (young and stupid) was wondering will this affect me applying for iec visa? Thanks in advance for your answers..

Another person from a different website (UK applicant) applied for the IEC visa in 2012 and wrote this:
I've been following people's timelines on this thread, so I thought I'd share mine:

    Sent: 8th May
    NOR: 16th May
    Payment Request: 14th June
    Passed to CIC: 16th June
    LOI: 1am, 7th July

Can't wait to get to Vancouver next month!!!

On a side note, I've got a drink driving conviction from ~8 years ago that shows up on my police check, and was worried about not being eligible for a visa. I wrote a cover letter with the details of the incident, the Canadian laws it falls under (253 and 255 of the Canadian Criminal Code) and noted that I'm considered rehabilitated in the uk under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Luckily it seems to have worked as they've granted my visa!!

Also, here's a link which gives a "Criminality Self assesment" chart for Canada working holiday applicants from New Zealand. I can assume the guide applies universally to applicants from countries other than New Zealand.
