Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bluetooth keyboard is all you need.

Beyond that unless the program only runs on a Mac (or no iPad version) then you shouldn't have an issue.

To be honest, I think you are fooling yourself if you think you can use an iPad and keyboard exclusively and replace a computer. I have an iPad, which I use daily, and it is perfectly fine for surfing the web/emails/multimedia etc.

However there are just some functions that are hamstrung such as access to files, manipulation of files (moving, renaming etc.), certain video/audio editing that I find is just easier to do on a computer. Other hassles include Apple's own restrictions on Safari being the only default browser, not being able to use the millions of programs out there for various functions.

    My 2c...

+1. I love my ipad for email, browsing...even some games. But as soon as I need to do any work, the computer comes out. Its definitely not a replacement for a computer.

There is no definitive answer to this despite what people may say. It depends on what YOU use your desktop for and what YOU use your iPad for.

if you just use email, web browsing and a few other low level activities then an iPad may well suit you as your sole computer.

Others need complex programs and file handing for the applications they use.

So what do you DO on your computer mostof the time ?

Personally the Ipad could never replace my computer. However if you just need the device for browsing / email / music the ipad could very well replace your mac

Microsoft surface be a better option for you.

If you want to waste your money yes. An excellent choice. Read the reviews this week. A total piece of garbage.

Let's wait and see what the surface is like before slate or great it

    It's like a netbook/notebook/tablet. A Noblet/Niblet perhaps.

Confession: I haven't tried one yet.

Don't mind all the naysayers. :)

Bluetooth keyboard is all you need. If the screen is an issue, just airplay it to your TV.

Unless you are doing specialised stuff that requires a computer, the apps for it work fine.

Thats what i was thinking too,

Most stuff i use is in the cloud and web based so i think ipad can be used for everything aslong as your not using certain programmes

Wait till the Surface Pro comes out it will be a full x86 platform so you can run proper programs. To me a table is for mobility but for sheer computing power the desktop or a powerful laptop are years ahead
