my pipes have frozen for the past three years, on a closer look i found a lot of the pipe from the well to the house is only barely covered by two inches of soil, i'm going to drop all the pipes at least 18 inches maybe two foot if i can, what is the best stuff to insulate the pipes, will the foam stuff do, because i saw someone using the insulation with the red plastic, like the lagging jacket's, any help would be great thanks in advance.

If you drop the pipes to a meter then you'll need no insulation, its only a little deeper and a big saving.
If your replacing the pipe install "heavy gauge" and it will resist frost even more.
