I'd say the Wicklow mountains will do well alright, and 250m would be about the key altitude.

You always see a blob of pink over them on the NAE charts

Looking like every chance we have a go of it getting snow this week will be close but no cigar for us, while UK turns to Narnia!

Oh Mother of God what did we do to deserve this!

Don't think so at lower levels, the 12z is rather depressing tbh!

This must have been a bad blizzard. There is a plaque in wicklow in the memory of a family that were killed in an avalanche during this blizzard.

Image of the plaque is on this page:
    http://mountainviews.ie/summit/630/

The low pressure in this image is alot further south than a typical '47 style slider low though? Is anything like this possible in the current setup?

Anyone explain properly what that purple low pressure will do? windstorm? I see at +384 (netweather pic) it looks like the PV :confused:

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

This is a pretty poor run considering how good so many of the 06Z ensembles were.

+2 uppers and heavy rain on day 5.

That pic on netweather is from the 06z. It's actually happening at 120hrs on this run  To be honest, I don't know what would happen. Some epic battles between east and west anyway.

It's a displaced lump of the Canadian polar vortex.
