It's much better than the 6z. Might not quite make it long term. But to 120 hrs it's very cold.

It's a big upgrade compared to the atlantic walking in on the 6z

Look to the right too to see another ridge into Greece and above

It was a bit of an improvement but leaning too far east now with those gained heights in Greenland slipping again by 144.

UKMO better than the GFS at 120.

Why do you need an english version? It's all pretty self explanatory!

Can you imagine what this place is going to be like between +24-48 hours out if the charts are still showing a possible SNOWMAGEDDON.

Boards better get some extra hardware to cope with the load. :pac::pac:

I know its at the outer reaches of the 15 day charts the temp has swung from about zero to near double figures since yesterday. I don't trust anyone of it, but closer to home the Atlantic does seem to quickly regaine the upper hand albeit with a WNW bias rather than WSW.

Gfs goes the way of the pear in FI,
    UKMO is a stunner! :D

    Latest from the MET UK
    Colder weather on the way
9 January 2013 - We have had a very mild start to 2013 but Met Office forecasters are predicting that it will turn colder over the next few days.

I dont think you can really look beyond T+96 right now with any degree of certaintly as we have seen the last 24 hours, T+120 the very most.
The ECM at 6pm will be awaited very eagerly when this run is finished. If it falls into line with a return to milder conditions beyond T+96 then a clearer pattern will emerge. Crazy to discard one model against another purely because people dont like the output of GFS on the last 3/4 runs.
Its certainly better than it was this morning though for snow lovers and there will be a period of cold with snow for some it would appear, but a lot is going to change again in the next 24 hours.

Azores high making its usual appearence in the GFS and sending all our cold to Spain while the mild south westerlies ride over the top  hardly a shock i guess :o

So a slight improvement on the GFS, but not enough to change what ultimately happens. Control and ensembles will be interesting there.

Much better UKMO at 144 with good potential.

We await the ECM and the GEM.

GFS very much on its own for sure regarding next week and while there is nothing to suggest that it may have a better handle on the general trend than the other models, I still have it in mind that the GFS also went out on its own this time last year as well when the other models continually showed the opposite yet proved to be the most accurate in the end. Very interesting model watching times for sure.

The previous GFS runs and this one shows ultimately the Atlantic wins next week.

What ultimately happens later in the run. Mild southwesterlies.

Yeah true but it's only the GFS so far

Simon keeling is very sure we will have cold And snow going by his video. With only a 20% chance the mild will break through

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

12Z NOGAPS is good. A pity its not a major model.
